I'm always looking for a mystery with an interesting setting and strong main character and I certainly found that with Camilleri's Inspector Salvo Montalbano series set in Sicily.
Although engineer Silvio Luparello, a local bigwig death has been decided to be from natural causes, Montalbano is unable to let it go. He feels there must be more to the story and some of it will be quite unsavory.
The writing has a noir feel to it and Montalbano is an interesting character who doesn't always go by the book.
I might be good for a buddy read, because I also liked the first book and I keep planning to pick up more with Montalbano. I understand that in future episodes he is involved more in cooking.

I will most likely read more of this series.
