How do you feel when the auther is obviously religious?

Freedoms and liberty, we all have a choice to read or not read something just like they have a choice to write what they want.

heavy side eye, but maybe it's because i only had the misfortune of reading books where the religious ideas of the author weren't just "there" but drenched the narrative with a preachy tone, often outdated views and morals that begin and end with "character A follows my religion = good / character B is a non believer = evil"
Also, that's my view regarding fiction as that's the genre i read the most (and, like,,, i'm not going to complain about a biography or an explicitly religious story, i'm just not going to read it)

I always find it interesting to see how people implement their beliefs, faiths and opinions into their writing. I myself haven't been brought up religious, so when I read books where the authors write threading their religion into their work, I almost always find it interesting. I read it all with an open mind as I'm learning what others believe and their ways of life. Obviously those who believe one religion and read a book by an author who believes in another must feel a certain way.

I don’t mind. If you think about it, C.S Lewis wrote books that were obviously influenced by religion and no one complains. Then Stephanie Meyer wrote Twilight with her mormon values and people start losing their minds. I think as long as theres a representation without indoctrination, i am fine with it. We cant expect authors to follow the rule “write what you know” then get mad at them for doing just that.
