TEAM Novel Navigators - Through The Decades
Hi Team 5! Welcome! 👋I'm Jenn, your Team 5 Co-Leader. I'm from the northeast, US. I absolutely love team readathons. Always look forward to them! So excited for this one!
Hi Beth! I think we were on a team together for the last readathon. I remember you being a powerhouse reader. Looking forward to working and reading with you for this readathon!
We get this upcoming week to come up with a team name and plan out our books on the team spreadsheet. I've got a bunch of books in mind but I won't be able to enter them into the spreadsheet until tonight, as I'll be out all day. I'll just enter one to replace the first example. (Oh, you do not have to put the author's name - it's just my little quirk that I like to include it 😊)
Sooo, does anyone have any good ideas for a team name?
Looking forward to reading with everyone!
Hello JeanH and team!I'm from Montreal, Québec — just north of the northeastern US. I'm really looking forward to this readathon as a way to tackle more books from my TBR list! I read in both French and English, with French being my mother tongue, so reading in French is usually faster for me. That should help me keep up with the five books I've committed to.
I'll take a look at the prompt list later today or tomorrow and try to match some titles. I'm also happy to read a book to help complete a prompt if needed. And I'll start thinking of a team name too!
Please note that for now I do not receive notifications but can certainly check the team page 2-3 times a day. I will be contacting Goodread teams.
Hi friends,I'm from the southeast US! I am looking forward to reading with you all. I will be taking a look at the list later today to try and match some titles. I am also the worst at brainstorming team names, so I will be happy with anything you all come up with!
Welcome, Lorraine and Brianna! @Lorraine - Yes, I also look forward to this readathon as a way to tackle more books. However, I'm usually finding new books to read instead of looking at my TBR. 😊 That's awesome that you read in French and English. And I don't mean to state the obvious, but I just want to clarify that you have the box checked off to 'Notify me when people comment' and you still do not receive notifications? If it is not sorted out in the next day or so, I will direct your notification issue to our more experienced mods for assistance.
@Brianna - I'm also terrible with coming up with team names. But I had some down time between appointments today and did some poking around online for some theme related possible team names (I'm not creative enough to come up with them on my own!)
Paging Through the Years
Timeless Tales/ Bookworms
Decade Delights
Decade Discoveries
Time Travel Texts
Fictional Footprints
Timeless Texts
Looking forward to seeing what you will read!

Yes, the 'Notify me when people comment' is checked. My profile is showing that the last time I was active is April 2025. You can see that is a problem 😮
I like Fictional Footprints and Paging through the Years.

Ok, I think I can help with the profile problem as it was recently discussed with the mods. Try signing out and signing in again. That should reset your activity. Hopefully that'll help with the notifications, too.

I tried that everyday for the last week. Unfortunately it did not work. I will try it again tonight one last time but will contact them if not.
I've decided to write to them today. Let's see what they say. I have a friend here who has the same problem. So maybe there is a solution for both of us! 🤞

Bummer! But do you at least show that you're active this month?

Darn it. I know it's worked for others.... I hope the powers that be can help you.
HELPFUL INFO & REMINDERSThe readathon begins and ends at midnight in your timezone .
Only include books that are at least 100 pages long, or if you have 100 pages left at the start of the readathon. Graphic novels/comics and screenplays do not count.
Point System
Books for double and triple prompts cannot be redeemed for points until all 2 or 3 books have been completed. The point breakdown is as follows:
Singles: 50 POINTS PER PROMPT COMPLETED
Doubles: 150 POINTS PER PROMPT COMPLETED
Triples: 300 POINTS PER PROMPT COMPLETED
Pages Read: 1 POINT PER PAGE - We only count pages read during the readathon.
Audiobook Hours: Please use the Goodreads most popular hardcover edition of your book in the language you read it in to calculate page points. If your book does not have a hardcover edition, please use paperback. If paperback is unavailable, use Kindle. And if all else fails, use the old formula to calculate page points (15 hours = 1,000 pages)
For this challenge:
The original publication date is to be used, regardless of what edition you read.
Jennwould a title like Night Flight by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry would work as a unit of time? Night being a period in the day ?
Lorraine wrote: "Jennwould a title like Night Flight by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry would work as a unit of time? Night being a period in the day ?"
Yes, it's a period in the day but I don't think it's a unit of time. At least how we typically think of units of time like second, hour, day, week. But I'll ask in the FAQ thread to be sure.
Hello everyone! Im Beth, co-captain along with the lovely JennH. Thank you, Lorraine for messaging me. I missed that the teams were posted.
Wow, I am so excited to be reading with y’all. I read a lot, so I love readathons and other challenges. I’ll take a look at the prompts and plot out what books on my TBR will fit.
Team name? I went to a team name generator site and got these suggestions.
Literary Legends
Page Turners United
The Book Brigade
Novel Navigators (this one appeals to me)
Story Seekers Society
Epic Readers Alliance
The Reading Rangers
Bookworm Brigade (another team I was on used this. I even made a logo!)

Chapter Champions
The Literary League

thank you. I do have other possibilities though.

You can use Night Flight. Yay! Below is Theresa's response in the FAQ:
"I think the word 'night,' as part of the book title, works.
I researched a bit since my original thoughts were hours, minutes, etc.
Words like: day, night, morning, week, are good to use, for the unit of time prompt.
But not words like Friday and January since those work for other prompts."

Glad you're here! Thought I'd wait until today to see if missing team members showed up before messaging them.
I like Novel Navigators, too!
JennH wrote: "Lorraine wrote: "JennH wrote: "Lorraine wrote: "Jennwould a title like Night Flight by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry would work as a unit of time? Night being a period in the day ?"
Yes, it's a period..."
Great. that is opening many possibilities!
I've got a bunch of books fit into the spreadsheet, but I have a LOT more on my TBR that would fit so I can juggle around as needed. Of those of us who've checked in, Novel Navigators seems to be the name of choice. We'll hold off a bit more for the others to join and weigh in before we finalize.
Morning! Looks like the spreadsheet is getting filled up nicely! I've put in some books and I also have a bunch more on my TBR but I didn't want to bite off more than I can chew. Yet. I think so far we have something for everything except 1900s. Which I did find a couple of books for. But I want to wait on that before putting them on the spreadsheet bc there are other books I wanted to prioritize first.
I saw that, too, Jenn! I've been reading the Wizard of Oz series and figured that would fit but when I looked, I've read all the books written in the 1900s and am up to those written 1910+.If anyone is looking for books from that decade, there's a list for that! 📃

Yes. I am looking into it. I'll get back to you later with my choices.

haha, The Wizard of Oz series is exactly what I had my eye on. And they're short books, so easy to tackle if need be. It's been ages since I read them so I was fine with a re-read.
Lorraine wrote: "I've decided to write to them today. Let's see what they say. I have a friend here who has the same problem. So maybe there is a solution for both of us! 🤞"So I just poked my head in another team thread where our mod addressed the active/notification problem. Looks like maybe you need to be signed out for a while to trigger the fix.
"Your profile shows that you were last active in May. When that happens, members often don't get Goodreads notifications. The current "fix" is to sign out of Goodreads on all your devices, wait a while (maybe even overnight), then sign back in. This somehow resets your account so that you get notifications again, and show up as last active this month on your profile."

I did that also. Overnight! Every night last week. ahahah

🤦 I was really hoping that would be the solution!
Hi everyone, sorry I'm late!I was caught up with university work, but now the summer break is here and I finally have time to relax a bit.
My name is Antun, and I’m from Croatia (from a city on the sunny Adriatic coast). I study literature, so books are a big part of both my free time and my professional studies.
This is my first time doing something like this, but I’m really excited and it seems like a wonderful idea.
I'll add some books to the spreadsheet as soon as I can! And please forgive any mistakes in my English, it's not my first language :)
(Novel Navigators is a great group title)

I will add A room with a view and Le Livre du thé to the spreadsheet for the 1900.
Hello Sydney and Antun! So happy to have you with us, and I'm looking forward to our team being amazing!I've submitted Novel Navigators as our team name; if I've counted right, over half of us are good with it.
Lorraine, thanks for finding the 1900s books! I had considered A Room With a View also!
Four days and counting woo hoo!!
Welcome, Antun and Sydney! Yay, the gang's all here! 😁Looking forward to reading with you all! I'm glad everyone has shown up. We have the smallest team. Small but mighty! 💪
I was curious to list where we're all located on the planet.Antun - Croatia (Adriatic coast)
Beth - Pennsylvania (northeast US)
Brianna - Georgia (southeastern US)
JennH - Northeast US
Lorraine - Montreal, Québec, Canada
Syd - Indiana, US
Antun is in Central European Summer Time (CEST).

For now they said they are aware many people are experiencing this problem and their team are trying to fix it.
Getting ready for Friday! I have borrowed more books from the library that are not on the spreadsheet for now but that would fit some prompts. I can read them if we need to fill out some prompts or move things around.

Great minds think alike! I'm headed to the library now for some more books.

Ahahah I have about 10 more. The nice thing in summer is that the library gives us 6 weeks instead of three to read the book. So if I do not read them for the readathon, I can read them afterwards.
