Goose Hi! I've recently started beta reading and have worked with beta readers before. I can beta read for any romance novel, no word limit.

I will particularly focus on how compelling and complex your characters are, if they are interesting and if their arc is compelling. I will also help you with ascertaining whether your pacing is good and draws the readers in, whether your plot is consistent and interesting. I can also help you with sensitivity as I am a POC and a queer person.

I'd love to read more stories about Indians and South Asians and queer people, so please, absolutely do hit me up if you have a story with such characters, I am good with any kind of romance - contemporary, fantasy, historical, romcom etc. If you want to work with me, please either dm me or contact me at goosiemalson@gmail.com

Bye 👋!

Laksshya Guptaa | 22 comments Hi Goose,

I came across your post on Goodreads and was really impressed by your thoughtful approach to beta reading, especially your focus on character depth, internal dialogue, and pacing. I’m currently seeking passionate, detail-oriented readers, and I believe you’d be a great fit for my novel.

I’d love to invite you to beta read my WIP titled Something Between Us, a dark, emotional, and character-driven slow-burn romance (approx. 275,000 words, though I’m still in edits and open to trimming). It’s dual POV and centers on:

A haunted marketing executive and a secretive media mogul who form an unexpected connection after a failed blind date, only to be pulled into a love story complicated by trauma, past abuse, and hidden truths.

The novel leans heavily into emotional intimacy, trauma recovery, and realistic character development. It includes dark themes (TW: abuse, PTSD, sexual trauma), so I wanted to be transparent upfront in case those are not your preferred subjects.

I don’t need editing—just honest, reader-level feedback on:
• Whether the story held your attention
• If the emotional beats hit
• How the characters and pacing worked for you
• Any places you felt confused, disconnected, or wanted more from

I’d be more than happy to send over the manuscript and feedback form. I know your turnaround time may be longer for bigger projects, and that’s totally fine—I really value deep, thoughtful commentary more than speed.

Let me know if you’d be open to reading, and I’d love to work with you!

Warm regards,
Laksshya Guptaa
