Please, I'm trying to find the title of this novel!

I'm looking for a fiction novel about an elementary or middle school girl who meets a man she calls her uncle, who, if I remember correctly, sells old or secondhand goods. Because she often meets this uncle and starts skipping school, her parents eventually find out and forbid her from seeing him again. Missing him, she burns tobacco in her room just to smell it. At the end of the story, the girl sees a news report that the uncle has been arrested by the police for illegally trading goods. Does anyone know the title?
