House of Devils series by Kayla Edwards -> Restarting August 18th, 2025

For some reason, I thought this was supposed to restart on the 15th, so I started early. I'll start another book as well, so that I can read this one a little slower since I jumped the gun :)

I had it ready to go but Megan and I finished a book and jumped into the next and she's waiting for me so we can go to the next again
I'm slow, I'm on vacation. I will read this one

I just finished Part II this morning.

Part II => (view spoiler)[I'm so curious about the role Loren's dad will play. I really hope he's not a bad guy.

Loren and Darien are going through it so far in this one. I love the relationship they have together, but I'm thinking we are going to have some communication issues since they are both hiding things from one another.

I'm also glad that Darien gave Loren his memories on some things that involved Valary. I think she's going to cause more problems as well. (hide spoiler)]

This book appears to be about more then just Loren and Darien. There is a little bit of backstory about some of the other Devils which is nice because I thought the first part was a bit boring. The bomb dropped at the end of part I about Blue hopefully makes the next part a little more exciting (hide spoiler)]

Part III => (view spoiler)[I've been struggling some with this book. I'm not sure if it's my mood or what, but it's literally taken me 2 days to get through this part, lol

I think the lack of communication is starting to get to me some. These two are both keeping secrets from one another. Now I get that Loren can't tell him what's going on, but I also don't feel like she's doing enough to let him know something is going on.

I'm hoping the next two portions bring them back together and working together some. I much prefer that than to this.

I do like getting Max and Dallas's POV and part of their story. (hide spoiler)]

Part IV => (view spoiler)[Ok, it's getting better. Finally, a conversation has been had, and all hell is starting to break loose.

I'm also glad that Max and Dallas finally talked about their feelings. Or more so, Dallas. (hide spoiler)]

Part V => (view spoiler)[I'm not sure how I feel about that ending. I don't believe that Darien will die. He's to integral to the story.

I was expecting Loren to go to the well in the spirit realm and take the power and become immortal. Hmmm....I still don't feel like she's just human. And if she stays that way, I feel like this story just won't work.

I'm going to read the next one, because I'm a tad bit invested at this point. (hide spoiler)]

I suspect you are right about part 3...it should be interesting as both these two are keeping things from each other.
That guy is creepy, the one who wants Loren to find the well. I suspect she still has magic.
I hope she is able to help Darien with the surges with the potion she makes.
I found part two more interesting then part 1 but what about Blue? That storyline seems to be dropped (hide spoiler)]

I have no idea how Loren is going to escape the Imperator and how Darien is going to come out alive in this next match

I feel like chapter 4 was so short and chapter 3 so long. I'm glad Loren was able to tell Darien about the Imperator and Max and Dallas were able to patch things up.
Finn was a bit of a surprise but shouldn't have been but just so much going on that I didn't pick that up.
Hopefully Loren 's dad is ok but looks like the Imperator is using him to get to her.
I found much of the book draggy but I'm looking forward to the end of this to see what happens. I think Loren gets out of this mess herself with a little help from Darien (hide spoiler)]

I think the ending was a let down. Maybe it should have ended 3-4 chapters prior to.
There were lots of bits I really enjoyed- Max and Dallas, Blue, characters using their magic but at the same time I thought some if it was boring and slow.
I do want to read the next book, I want to see what happens. (hide spoiler)]
