Description: breakup notes from a love story i made up in my head is for the hopeless romantics who dream in the daylight and trip over themselves in the process. It’s inspired by the people who come into our lives for a short amount of time, a few hours or a few days at most, and change them in ways they’ll never know. It traces how the fantasy of someone lingers longer than they did, how it replaces what we know about someone until that’s all that’s left.

How does a dreamer know when it’s time to come back to earth? How long does it take to get a over a what-if? Perhaps, the narrator questions, it’s in the falling that the healing happens, and in the time it takes a hopeless romantic to learn to fly again. When the quality of connection is so strong it makes a day feel like years, the length of a relationship becomes irrelevant. When you’ve lived so long with a fantasy, separating it from the truth can be nearly impossible.

The poems oscillate between healing and backtracking, moving forward only to get swept away by the fantasy once again, and the non-linear manner in which people endeavor to move on from someone who was not meant for them.

Valentine | 1974 comments Hello Catherine, unfortunately the publisher's site you’ve kindly linked to does not list the ISBN or many of the other details, meaning we are unable to use it as a source. We would either need a link to your book via another acceptable source (one where we can double-check the book details), or alternatively you can send us scans/photographs from your own physical copy; the cover, and the page containing the publication information. Someone will then be able to help.

(You can upload pictures to Goodreads by adding them to ‘your photos’; by going to your profile, clicking on your profile picture, then clicking ‘add more photos’ on the top right of the page. If you also wouldn’t mind stating the source of the image, that would be wonderful.)

Catherine Shonack | 3 comments Thanks! Is it okay if I only have a PDF copy and I send the information from there? It's my book but it's an indie publisher and they have yet to send me my physical copies

Valentine | 1974 comments Hello Catherine, I’ve posted a question to other librarians to double-check this for you, though I suspect this might not be something we could use, unfortunately. Just to confirm in case I’ve misunderstood though; is this a pdf copy of the paperback/chapbook, or a separate pdf ebook version of the book with a different ISBN (I can see the publishers do sell their ebooks in this format). Or as you’ve only posted one ISBN in message #1, is the digital version that Bottlecap Press sell essentially a pdf file of the paperback?

Catherine Shonack | 3 comments It is a pdf copy of the paperback; they both have the ISBN number. I do have a copy of the cover with the ISBN listed, but it is the cover of the e-book version.

Valentine | 1974 comments Thank you very much for confirming.
Unfortunately, librarians would really need the scans of the paperback in its’ corresponding, physical format to be allowed to add it for you. I’m sorry this is a slightly tricky one. I think you would either need to make a new request once your physical copy arrives (and then we can certainly help), or if you’re unsure if you’ll receive one yourself, you could get in touch with Goodreads Staff, and see if they are able to add it for you with the information available, given it’s a slightly unusual situation.
