((I was assuming we'd stay in the USA. I think it's more probable, personally.))

((It doesn't have to be close to the mountains. *shrugs* Just my picturing of it, which can change.))Simon shrugged. "They taste about the same to me."
Jenna crossed her arms. "Depends where I'm eating it."
"Birthday cake? Really?" Jenna shook her head. "Birthday cake ice cream tastes . . . wrong. For the record, salted caramel pretzel is always the way to go.""I like just about anything with chocolate in it." Simon grinned. "Or peanut butter. Or both."
"You do realize that there's not really any pretzels in that, right?" Lark said, raising an eyebrow. "You don't want to know. Reese's cup ice cream is really good," she admitted to Simon.
Lark grinned. "Yeah." She pulled out her iPod and swiped through a few songs before settling on one.
Lark tilted it towards him. "Francois-Xavier Roth, right now. My 'creepy' soundtrack. Mostly classical."
"Never heard of him." Music, honestly, had never been high on Simon's radar of things to notice. "Classical's ok, though."
"Ah." That made sense. "So . . . you listen to a lot of classical?"Jenna snorted, amused by her brother's attempt to sound like he knew what he was talking about.
Lark smiled. "Yeah. I prefer things without words, since it's more calming. And I like the peacefulness and emotion evoked by music alone."
Jenna shrugged. "Depends on the music. And the words. And when I'm listening to it. I'm not much of a music person, really."
"Then what do you like?" Lark asked. "Books? Solitaire? Drawing? Or are you just into beating things up and keeping up your walls so no one can get in an hurt you?" She bit the inside of her cheek, regretting her snippiness.
"Oh. You can be almost snarky. I never would've guessed," Jenna retorted. "And . . . puzzles are cool if I have to sit for a while. You know. Crosswords, solitaire, sometimes cryptograms. Whatever's available." She smirked. "And I don't beat things up for fun. I just put force fields in front of doors and watch people try to figure out why they can't get through."Simon smacked the back of Jenna's head. "That's pretty cruel, you know."
"But funny." Jenna shrugged. "You can't deny it's funny. And I always take the field away after a few minutes, and it's never in front of someone who's running."
Lark winced. "Poor Tucker. Cade put up plastic wrap, and Tucker was running and..." She grimaced. "I nearly passed out, there was so much blood. Tucker had to get a dozen stitches."
Jenna winced. "Ow. Seriously. Ow." She glanced towards Cade. "I'm slightly amazed he's still around now."
Lark shrugged. "If it wasn't for him, Tucker probably would have bled out. He stopped the bleeding by using his metal manipulation to do something with the iron in the blood. Not sure. But he saved Tucker's life."
"Huh. That makes up for nearly killing him in the first place, I guess." Jenna paused, crossing her arms. "Do you mind random questions about your powers?"
"Cool. So . . ." Jenna drew the word out. "You manipulate water, but . . . does it have to be pretty much pure? Or could you manipulate anything with water in it, like, say, mud?" Or blood. She didn't say this last part, but it would be a fairly easy conclusion to guess.
Lark shifted, pulling her legs up next to her. "Sort of. If the water's not pure, like in mud, I can pull the water out of it and manipulate it. So basically, I can't manipulate a tree, but I can pull the water out of a tree."
Lark shrugged. "Yeah, if you're in the middle of nowhere, it's nice to be able to pull water from wherever. If I was in the middle of ocean, there'd be water, water everywhere, and plenty of drops to drink." She grinned at how stupid she sounded.
Simon chuckled quietly. "How about in a desert? Could you pull water from the nearest cactus? From under the soil?"
"Technically anywhere," Lark said. "But it's easier if I can pinpoint the water's exact location, and even easier if I can see it."
Simon's eyebrows rose slightly. "So if you could pinpoint the location of water in, say, Siberia, you could in theory draw it here?"
"Impressive," Simon said approvingly. "I can see how having been there would help, since from what you've said, the more you know about it the easier it is."
"Yep. But then again, I usually just pull water from someplace close. It's much more convenient."
Simon nodded. "I can get that. I'm just curious.""Could be a good way to sabotage someone," Jenna said. "Water's pretty important, after all. Pull it all away and yeah. Orrrr . . . can you do it the other way?"
"I mean, like . . ." Jenna gestured somewhat vaguely. "Could you take the contents of the swimming pool and send it somewhere else? Like to flood something?"
"Cool." Jenna's expression suggested she was likely plotting something to do with this new information. "How far could you send it, if you don't go with it?"
"You should," Jenna said decisively. "Always good to know what you can't do . . . and what you can."
Lark tilted her head to the side. "Well, I'm not sure the world would be happy if I drained the Atlantic onto Europe."
