Diana (secondhandrose) | 26 comments I work in a library and we are always looking to diversify our collection. I've just discovered this BIPOC women run bookstore in Melbourne. I intend to pay a visit on Friday and hopefully subscribe to one of their book boxes. They have Regional Book Boxes where you can 'read the world'. I thought that brief suited this group.
The store is called Amplify Bookstore and is located in West Melbourne.

Great concept - I’ll have to go take a look next time I’m in the area.

I'm so excited! I went to Amplify Bookstore today and I absolutely adored it. It's only small, but their curation includes loads of titles that I've read, plus many more that I have on my TBR. Conclusion - this is my kind of bookshop!

I bought two books today, one a new-ish release that I intended to buy, plus - and this is the one I'm so excited about - a copy of Reef by Romesh Gunesekera. According to our food discussion thread, I've been searching for this book since January 2020!!

Diana, thanks for posting about this bookshop, as I hadn't heard of it before.

Anyone who lives in Melbourne, or is visiting Melbourne, I'd highly recommend dropping in to see what they've got.

Sounds like a lovely bookstore - I’ll have to live vicariously through both of you!

Andrea - I’m interested in what you think of Reef when you get to it - I haven’t read any of Romesh Gunesekera’s books. My library has another of his books - Suncatcher, so I’ve added it to my list.

No, I haven’t read him before either. Suncatcher does sound good though.
