slow pacing

Hey guys! Currently about 100 pages deep in the handmaids tale (she is sitting in the sitting room listening to the Bible from the commander.) So far it has felt a little slow and not very plot driven. Does this continue for the rest of the book, or do you think it starts to pick up at some point. Honestly I am a pretty slow reader and just had the end spoiled for me; I am wondering if it is worth finishing, which would take me a couple hours. I probably will, but let me know your thoughts! Also, NO MORE SPOILERS PLEASE! I think I know what happens at the very end but just to be safe please, please, dont comment any. Ok thanks!

Atwood does a lot of world building through her use of narration. I didn't care for the ending as much as I cared for her mesmerizing and stylized prose. Keep at it -- let its slow pacing draw you in, feel it, see how Offred thinks, how Gilead forces her to think. It's one of the best dystopian novels ever written.

The pacing is definitely very slow, to the point that half way through the book I was wondering how in the world she'd manage a conclusion in the next 150 pages.

The nature of the ending explained how, of course, but enjoy it for what it is. With this book it's about the journey, not the destination.

The book in general is very very slow but I think it is a good book to have read and it would be worth it to finish

It stays that slow , it is not going anywhere and I found it utterly boring and a waste of time.

I'm with Simone. Tedium, ad nauseum, ad infinitum.
