message 5: by Alif (new)

Alif Muntazir | 23 comments I generally target for 1 book per week. However, if the book is really good or if i am in a reading block, the time might differ. I have finished some books in one day while others have taken me years to finish (I would read some pages one day randomly and leave it for months.)

message 6: by Pisces51 (new)

Pisces51 It is variable upon my time to read, the page length, and obviously the readability of the book.

message 13: by Tanja (new)

Tanja | 315 comments depends on the book's lenght and how much I'm interested in. Also available reading time is a crucial factor. But a shorter book with 200 -300 pages takes me 4 or 5 days

message 14: by sarah (new)

sarah | 288 comments Depends on my free time and how good the book is. A week or so if you have free time. Hours or upto 3 days if it’s a book that just that good

message 16: by Danis (new)

Danis Miller-Bucholz | 5 comments I also shoot for one book a week, but like many of you it varies, depending on how much time I have and how drawn I am to the book. Don't you just love it when it's a book you can't put down? It's so gratifying to be so into a book that you read it within a few days!

message 17: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Smelcer (kellysmelcer83) | 1 comments Depends on the day I start. Usually two to three days. I've read many in one day, especially if it's my day off. But longer books - or those with heavier/darker plots - can take a few more days.

message 18: by Virginia (new)

Virginia (faithtrustandpencildust13) depends on the book. I'm a slow reader compared to most. 3 Days to 2 weeks.

message 19: by Joan (new)

Joan | 1 comments My average is 3 days, but I usually have more than one going on and some take me weeks and others go much quicker.

message 20: by Kate (last edited Jun 20, 2025 01:25PM) (new)

Kate Chambers (celestinaskies) | 12 comments Oh, gosh, if I am blessed by the reading gods with a particularly compelling tale + a slow work day, I can easily devour a book in a matter of hours.

But just like there are intuitive eaters, I consider myself to be "an intuitive reader" I check in with myself throughout my reading experience and pause when I am "satiated"

Even if it's in the middle of a chapter!

Sometimes I will slowly work my way through a book over the course of many months so I can savor it. I am doing that with House of Leaves and In the Buddha's Words right now.

message 21: by Ron (new)

Ron Jay | 15 comments During the school year, and few weeks. Summer ☀️ I can get through a book much quicker!

message 24: by Brie (new)

Brie McKinney | 37 comments Depends on how into I am and the things I need to do. I've gone anywhere from a day to a couple months.

message 25: by Arielle (new)

Arielle Miller | 42 comments Totally depends on the book - how long it is, how much I'm into it - and how much free time I have!

Can take two days or a month!

Been averaging a book a week so far this year, but again that's an average... because 4-5 of those books have been 800-900 pages, and a few have been under a hundred! lol

message 26: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Cecil | 272 comments I do not read fast. If I really really get into it I can read a little faster, slower if the book is slow going. But I just go at my own pace I do not try to push myself to go faster than I know I can. I read for enjoyment therefore I will go the pace that is right for me. Sometimes it might be a week, or a week end, or a month if book is slow going. Plus we adopted our granddaughters when they were young and now they are 12 & 13 so we do things in the summer, bowling, playing board games, card games, crafts, diamond painting.

Monika Depending how much time I have. From 1 day to week mostly.

message 38: by Wisteria (new)

Wisteria | 5 comments I have a pretty demanding job, and I’m pretty active in my day to day life. I try to read a book a week, but if it’s slow going it can take me up to two.

The colder months is usually when I get more of my reading done. And then sometimes I’ll read more than one book in a day. Or 3-4 books a week

If I'm busy it can take 1 - 2 weeks

message 47: by ANA GARCIA (new)

ANA GARCIA | 5 comments This depends a lot on the book. There are books that I devour on the day they release, especially if I've been craving them for a while and they're not more than 250 pages. Then there are other books that take me a few days. It also depends on my mental state.

message 48: by Megan (new)

Megan (megmez) | 38 comments It really depends on:
- the length of the book (obviously!)
- the days of the week (I can read more on the weekend)
- which format it's in (I can read my kindle or books on my phone while I'm on the move or washing up or eating, a paperback or hardback take me longer)
- how much I'm enjoying it or how engaging it is

On average, I'd say a week for most standard novels. Novellas less time, YA less time. That said, my reading list since January would suggest I'm closer to an average of 7 books per month.
