I started. Reading about a half hour a day so taking my time with it. So far it’s pretty good.

[Kirsten]

I’m reading Icarus now but will prolly start this next.

[Kirsten]

It’s pretty YA for me. I know I suggested it and I’ll push through, but I’m not loving it.

[Jackie]

I have mixed feelings about it too. It's definitely YA and (view spoiler)[I get upset with the way Aunt Lori treats Nate. Too much emotional abuse for me. It does look like she was physically abused as a child so that's no excuse but may explain some of it. (hide spoiler)]

I'm just reading a little before bed each night so it will take me several days, but I find sometimes I can handle books better in small doses.

Okay, I’m done and really didn’t like it.

I'm about 60% and will be so glad to finish. I can't handle much of it at a time.

Sorry--it really wasn't at all what I expected. I'm definitely disappointed.

I'm not sure why it bothers me so much. These kids are so messed up. (view spoiler)[Every time Nate gets in trouble, he blames it all on Cam even though he often initiates the trouble. Nate is a very messed up kid and I can't say I like either Nate or Cam very much. (hide spoiler)]

I didn't like either of them at all.

[Jackie]

I finished. This was a hard book to read. I have to give the author credit for taking on some difficult issues - coming to terms with your sexuality, abuse, and the religious aspects of being gay. But the MCs were difficult to even like let alone feel sympathy for them. The part about Violet surprised me but in thinking back, it shouldn't have. All in all, the book just wasn't for me.

You’re more generous than I. I just think it’s a bad book!

But yes, definitely tackled some hard issues.
