Hilde wrote: "What would Darth Vader read on the beach?"I love that image!
I immediately thought of The Art of War
I also think that Darth would totally be into WWII history so that might work
Then I asked chat GPT and it came up with several others (The Art of War was one)
Dune
How to Win Friends & Influence People
were several suggestions I liked

I also though about one of my Swedish history books, one about Stalin, Josef Stalin: En historia om terror och förtryck
I have it lined up since I just finished a book about the Soviet Union.
I have decided to go with the book about Stalin, then I can choose Swedish history books for the 4 next prompts. There are 4 published this year that I haven't bought yet, because I need to read some more first.Prompt #9 - Star Wars In 100 Scenes
Prompt #10 - Josef Stalin: En historia om terror och förtryck by Dick Harrison
#9 was Soldier Sailor by Claire Kilroy was set in Ireland, so I chose Impostor by L.J. Ross which was set in a different county in Ireland. Enjoyed both books, but Soldier Sailor was one of the best books I've ever read.
Previous Prompt: Business or Pleasure by Rachel Lynn SolomonThis Prompt: A Line to Kill by Anthony Horowitz
The main character in Business or Pleasure mentions that she loves mystery books, so this was spelled out for me.
Prompt 10: Longbourn by Jo BakerCaroline, the contemporary main character of The Lost Apothecary, is interested in history especially of the common people in their every day lives. She’s recently moved to London. So I picked Longbourn by Jo Baker. It’s the story of the servants of the Bennet family from Pride and Prejudice.
Previous Book: The God of the Woods by Liz MooreCurrent Book: Check & Mate by Ali Hazelwood
Most of the characters were pre-teen girls so I thought they would read a YA romance.
My previous book, The Lost Sisterhood, has a character, Myrina, that is supposed to be the first Queen of the Amazons. I thought maybe she'd read The Iliad just to see what Homer "got wrong," but then decided it might be a little too male oriented for an Amazon, so I decided she'd read A Thousand Ships by Natalie Haynes.
2/21Title share a word with previous book
Her Buried Bones
Been on my pile for ages - so glad I got to read this one.
3/21Set in the country where previous author from
Her Broken Bones
Excellent another great read .... What's next
4/21Published the same year as previous book ...
Dead Reckoning
Not started yet - am jumping onto Good Reads summer challenge for next book.
Both Alexander and Craft insert themselves into the novel and both have won a Newbery. I'm pretty sure they would want to read another Newbery winner's newest book.
I read Oona Out of Order for the last prompt and had a hard time figuring out what Oona might read for fun. Especially since I didn't really want to read a music memoir. But in one of her years she does a lot of traveling so I thought that she might enjoy Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail. I do think she would enjoy the book since both main characters are on a journey of self discovery and I thought they were quite similar.
My last book was The Blood Traitor by Lynette Noni so for this one I read Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber, 5 Stars. I figured Kiva would read this ironically.
Last book: Welcome to Murder Week by Karen Dukess - 7/16/25.Current book: No One Was Supposed to Die at This Wedding by Catherine Mack - 7/19/25
The character Amity in Welcome to Murder Week is a romance novelist who starts thinking about writing a mystery novel at the end of the book. I think she would like a cozy mystery to help her get those juices flowing.

10) A book the previous character would read at the beach: How well do you know the characters from your previous read? This prompt is a little more abstract as we’re asking you to dive into a character’s head and pick a book they might read at the beach.
This could be a main or secondary character from your prompt 9 book. Think about that character’s personality, interests, life experiences, etc. What kind of book would they find relaxing? What would they enjoy reading in their free time? If your previous read was nonfiction, choose any individual featured, quoted, or mentioned in that book as your “character.”
Have fun with this prompt. Get as imaginative as you’d like!
Sample Challenge: For prompt 9, I read Dracula. Now, the beach probably isn’t Dracula’s favourite hangout spot, but I do get a giggle imagining him secretly reading and enjoying Twilight by Stephenie Meyer while sitting in his beach chair. So, that’s my pick for this prompt.
