Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1834 comments Yeah, that's my thought too. I used Rick Riordan for the author with 10+ books but I could move it to a lower point prompt.

Starry | 18 comments For 4B - a book with a wedding - is it important that the wedding actually happen? The book I'm reading is completely about a wedding, preparing for it and everything that takes place during it but it ends up not completing.

Yes, Jackie mentioned above that the wedding should actually happen in the book for it to count. If it involves someone being left at the alter, or the wedding getting interrupted, I think that would be fine.

Yes, leaving at the altar happens, perfect. Thanks!

Vicki (rdrlady) | 212 comments I am reading a book that is 685 pages long. However, it is a large print edition. I looked up the regular hardcover edition and found it listed as 435 pages. Is it okay for me to use it as the 500+ pages book or not?

Vicki if you're reading the large print edition, then you are free to use the page count of the large print edition. Just make sure to link to that edition when you submit your entry!

For anyone who needs a refresher on how to link to a specific edition, when you click on "add book/author" and search for your book, below the Add button will be an option to click "other editions" and then you can select whichever version you want. For books like Lord of the Rings that have had a million editions this is a bit cumbersome but for most books it's pretty easy to find what you're looking for.

Elizabeth (elizabeth1234561) | 223 comments Can I use Dead and Gone by Charlaine Harris for the military prompt? Bill Compton served as a Confederate soldier in the civil war prior to becoming a Vampire, so would that count as retired from the military?

Not to jump into this conversation at the 11th hour - I feel like a good distinction would be child versus minor. A child possibly being an age group below teenager. A minor being someone under the age of 18.

I try my hardest to be a strict constructionist of prompts as I enjoy a good challenge or creative interpretation!

I'm still debating challenging. I'm wondering if that might include books that make little or no sense while you're reading them, or switch about too much to follow easily, and you have no idea what happened at the end of them!

I finished one of those a couple of days ago (Acceptance), and I seem to be on another one now (The West Passage).

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 3532 comments My plan was to read all the prompts in the challenge, but none of my pre-1900 books are remotely appealing to me right now. I haven’t finished my 500+ page book yet either.

You could just submit for the raffle whenever you get to 5,000 points, then you could still read books for the other prompts later.

That makes sense, I know that’s the logical thing to do. With the craziness in my house I could forget later. I might also just give myself permission to skip the one I don’t like.

(I wish I could be this diligent in other parts of my life. )

Vicki (rdrlady) | 212 comments A library hold came in for me, Stuart Woods' Finders Keepers, by Brett Battles. My library shelves this as MYS/Woods, S.

Would it or wouldn't it be OK to use this for 2B. Author's initials in "unSWeetened iced tea?"

I'm going with No. Stuart Woods died in 2022 and according to Wikipedia he did not write that book. I'd be open to a posthumous book but all parties seem pretty clear that Brett Battles wrote that book using Stuart Woods' character(s).

Shelley | 423 comments I finished The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi. My copy was 487 pages and the longest edition is 496 pages. I completed the raffle with other books but so frustrating to be that close to 500!

The long one I wanted to read was 499, so I put it off until later and used other prompts to finish.
