Helen Keller Day is celebrated on June 27th so let's celebrate her birthday. She was an American Author, lecturer, and a political activist who was the first deaf/blind person to earn a B.A. degree. She overcame her blindness and deafness and became famous in the process. She became an inspiration to people worldwide because of her spirit and her ability to surpass the expectations placed on her because of her disabilities. She was an advocate for racial and sexual equality and a fundraiser for the American Foundation for the Blind. This week we are celebrating this amazing woman who accomplished so much in her lifetime despite having the odds stacked so badly against her. She is definitely an inspiration to us all.
