It is amazing! I had a few complaints with some of his voicing, but it was a big improvement on an earlier audiobook edition that I also own. I first read that trilogy during the summer I was 16, so it's always a 'summer' series for me. Of course, I've reread it many times since. I tend to retreat to Middle Earth in times of stress.

If anyone wants a buddy listen/read let me know!

Hate to admit it but I have only seen the movies. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Holly R W | 3108 comments @Fran, when I think of summer books, my mind goes to lighter reads - books with lighter subject matter that may be gentle or fun/funny. I'm sure that we all have different ideas about summer books.

Here are some of my examples:

Mary Jane - my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Varina Palladino's Jersey Italian Love Story - my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

The Narrowboat Summer - my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Now Is Not the Time to Panic - my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Robin P | 5737 comments In high school I spent one summer reading Les Misérables and a couple years later War and Peace. Not most people's ideas of "summer reads"!

I have it for my next long trip which is only time I do audiobooks. Definitely curious about Serkis!

Yes, indeed. The name of the lawsuit, Jarndyce v. Jarndyce, is commonly used by lawyers to describe long complicated litigations that exhaust resources. I have 2 of those I am overseeing.

Joy D | 10075 comments Theresa, I hope you enjoy Bleak House as much as I did!

Summer reading for me is not any different from other months. Plus, we are not all experiencing the same seasons at the same time.

I don't think of all those lithub books as Summer novels, but this is an interesting topic

I like the variety.

It’s funny how books get on season related lists, especially when the story covers a whole year or more. I guess we all remember different things about these books. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn might start in the summer, but soon school starts and it gets very cold. It also has a lot of Christmas tags.
