Hi Lisa! These are the 3 I chose for you:

Still Life With Crows (Pendergast, #4) by Douglas Preston — I figure, its #4 in the series so I’ll help you move right along :)

Summer at Little Beach Street Bakery (Little Beach Street Bakery, 2) by Jenny Colgan — “summer” in the title and it sounds perfect for a beach/vacation read!

Loveless by Alice Oseman — Perfect for June/Pride month! Plus, it sounds good so I’ve added it to my TBR.

Enjoy! ☀️🏝️⛵️🏖️🛬⛱️👙🐚🌊

To Sleep in a Sea of Stars (Fractalverse, #1) by Christopher Paolini - I am a huge fan of the Inheritance Cycle and have wanted to read this book for a long time. Heck, I may read it this month now that I'm thinking about it. If you are interested in doing a buddy read with me for this one, please let me know :)

I hope you enjoy these books! ❤️

Thank you! "The One and Only Bob" is the second in a series. The first one was "The One and Only Ivan" which was a Newbery Award winner.
"To Sleep in a Sea of Stars" - I had read Christopher Paolini's children's series, "Eragon" and was interested in reading his first adult novel.
Thanks so much for the selections.

message 42: by Kathy (last edited May 27, 2025 04:46AM) (new)

Kathy Broyles | 571 comments My selections for you are:
Le viel homme et la mer by Ernest Hemingway because I was able to translate the title all on my own even though I don't know the language it is written in.

The bonus book selection is Howl’s Moving Castle (Howl’s Moving Castle, #1) by Diana Wynne Jones because I really enjoyed it when I read it.

I read a lot of children's or young adult books because when I was young, I roamed the shelves at the local library and knew I would someday be a Children's librarian. Fate had other ideas. I was a librarian at a Medical School.

Thank you so much for the selections! I am French, and I only have The Old Man and the Sea in French at home, so that's why I won't read it in English 😊 I have been wanting to read Howls Moving Castle for such a loooong time, thank you so much for picking it!

Librarian at a Medical School sounds very interesting too! But I can see the appeal of becoming a Children's librarian.

Here are four that I gave 5 stars, one that we both have chosen for each other, and one that just had a great title.
The bonus is the first book I read from my favorite author, which made me read every single thing he wrote. Hope you like them!

Light from Uncommon Stars by Ryka Aoki The Empress of Salt and Fortune (The Singing Hills Cycle, #1) by Nghi Vo The Antidote by Karen Russell Telephone by Percival Everett The Tainted Cup (Shadow of the Leviathan, #1) by Robert Jackson Bennett I See You've Called in Dead by John Kenney

Bonus- Sleeping in Flame (Answered Prayers, #2) by Jonathan Carroll (Or a newer book which is also a good entry into Jonathan Carroll in case you can't find the first one)- Mr. Breakfast by Jonathan Carroll

message 50: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 1436 comments Angie! I found some fun books for you. Sorry, I'm late. I was away for the weekend.

The Berry Pickers by Amanda Peters I love fresh berries in the summer.

All the Glimmering Stars by Mark T. Sullivan The stars on the cover reminded me of camping in the summer time.

The Stranger At Black Lake (Jess Lambert, #.5) by Christina McDonald . We need to investigate this lake.

Lover Reborn (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #10) by J.R. Ward It's always nice to take a vacation with some hot vampires.

Summer Sons by Lee Mandelo Let's see what happened to the sons of summer.

You Can Hide (Laurel Snow, #2) by Rebecca Zanetti We are probably going to be wishing for snow by the end of June.

Bonus book: Going away from my normal suggestions but sending a quick light romantic comedy to speed through at the pool.
Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood
