The Silence of the Girls by Pat Barker 5 stars

A retelling of the Trojan war through the eyes of a captured Trojan woman Briseis. I love Greek mythology and retellings in general, and this is a good one.

Briseis was queen of a Trojan city captured before the fall of Troy. She becomes a prize of Achilles (aka a slave), and has a front-row view of the final events and battles of the Trojan war.

The stories are told primarily from Briseis' point of view, with occasional narration by Achilles.

I too loved this one! At some point I'll read more of these retellings by this author.
