Posting this thread in the Superlibrarians forum because when I've tried to get staff to carry out these steps in the past, they thoroughly misunderstood me and made mistakes in editing.
The US digital audiobook edition of Neuromancer has an Alternate Cover Edition that is already listed on Goodreads, but does not have the correct ISBNs/ASIN (and a ton of other flagrantly incorrect information on top of that). These are still assigned to an earlier edition. Since only staff can move ISBNs outside of the ACE Creation process, could somebody please take the following steps?
The ACE should have the following information: TITLE: Neuromancer AUTHOR: William Gibson TRANSLATOR: Robertson Dean ISBN-10: 1101536691 ISBN-13: 9781101536698 ASIN: 1101536691 PUBLISHER: Penguin Audio DATE PUBLISHED: As with many ACEs, the publisher’s website lists the original publication date of the ISBN rather than the date the ACE was published. However, based on the fact that the green background cover art first came into use as an ACE on other editions in December 2018, it’s reasonable to assume that that’s the publication date for this edition as well. NUMBER OF PAGES: 11 FORMAT: Audiobook DESCRIPTION: The description listed on the publisher’s website is incorrectly taken from an early paperback edition, and the Audible edition’s description is taken from a 2004 edition of the paperback. I think it’s best to include the current paperback/ebook edition’s description, but if you disagree, please let me know which other description you want me to grab. Description as follows:
Winner of the Hugo, Nebula, and Philip K. Dick Awards, Neuromancer is a science fiction masterpiece—a classic that ranks as one of the twentieth century’s most potent visions of the future.
Case was the sharpest data-thief in the matrix—until he crossed the wrong people and they crippled his nervous system, banishing him from cyberspace. Now a mysterious new employer has recruited him for a last-chance run at an unthinkably powerful artificial intelligence. With a dead man riding shotgun and Molly, a mirror-eyed street-samurai, to watch his back, Case is ready for the adventure that upped the ante on an entire genre of fiction.
Neuromancer was the first fully-realized glimpse of humankind’s digital future—a shocking vision that has challenged our assumptions about technology and ourselves, reinvented the way we speak and think, and forever altered the landscape of our imaginations.
