This months read is The Shuttle by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

Amazon UK has a free version for Kindle, and there is also a free edition on Project Gutenberg here www.gutenberg.org/ebooks

I started this one today. Only one chapter in so far, but I think I'm going to like it. Betty seems like a force to be reckoned with.

I'm finding Anstruther and his mother completely monstrous, but a little bit of a pantomime villain. There are absolutely no redeeming features, which seems a little unlikely. Meanwhile, Rosalie is a little too perfect.

Yes, agreed! They definitely have no redeeming qualities.
Overall, I think it's a great story and I enjoyed it. Probably because things work out perfectly and I wish life was like that, haha!

I like he sound of that. I am reading rather slowly, I have had a busy time of it lately, but I am enjoying it when I do get to it.

I have been reading the free kindle edition which is the full text; the Persephone one has been abridged, and apparently has got rid of one character entirely. I'm curious as to which character has been dropped. Does anyone know more about this?
