Shonari | 226 comments Hey everyone, I’ve been editing the series page for The Wandering Inn on Goodreads and came across an issue I’m slightly stumped on. Even though I’ve added ASIN B07XX888DN (the correct Kindle edition) to the Wandering Inn series, the book that shows up is still the one with ASIN B0DTXGKNLF [This is probably because it's the version with the most ratings].

The issue is that ASIN B0DTXGKNLF doesn’t actually appear on Amazon, nor does the title match the Amazon title (it doesn’t show Fae and Fare). This seems to be a case where the book is from the web serial series that’s being published on Amazon as actual books. While Volume 2 might line up with Book 2 (fae and Fare), they aren’t exactly the same thing.

Also, the title on the (web series) edition doesn’t match the correct one for Fae and Fare (The Wandering Inn, #2).

My plan is to separate the web serial from the published Kindle version because I don’t think the web serial should be considered an "edition" of the book. Has anyone else encountered this issue or knows if this is just how things are supposed to work with web serials being published on Amazon as books? If not, I’ll be happy to update my understanding, but I thought I’d ask first.

I’ve already cleaned up most of the series by making sure the titles match the book cover titles and also separating editions that are definitely wrong. You can see the series here.

PS. I’ve already contacted a super librarian who said they will not merge two "books" with different covers.

Let me know your thoughts!

TL;DR:
I'm editing the series page for The Wandering Inn on Goodreads and running into issues with the web serial edition of Fae and Fare showing up instead of the correct published Kindle edition. My plan is to separate the web serial from the Kindle/Audible versions, but is it okay to separate them this way? I’m curious if others have encountered this problem or if this is just how things work with web serials published on Amazon.

Olga Silvertongue (olgasilvertongue) | 6723 comments Hi! I looked at these books. Firstly, ASIN B0DTXGKNLF is not real, it was added by the bot in 2025 as part of the mass adding of ASINs to everything.
Secondly, ongoing web serials are not allowed on GR and never have been. So some of those "ebooks" may have been added against the rules (See old comments from rivka here and here)
And thirdly, the content of the web series "ebook" and the Kindle edition are different, so they should not be combined together.

But I see a lot of wrong actions in the logs (changing the cover, changing the number of pages). I think maybe they were trying to turn the web novel entry into a published book entry.
I'd consider marking this page as invalid and leaving only the Kindle edition. Then for people who saved this edition, it will remain on the shelves, but for new readers it will not be displayed, and all reviews will be saved.

But since this book has been shelved over 7000 times, and I know nothing about this series, I'd like someone else's opinion. Maybe Jaclyn can help with this (when she'll appear in the Group).

Shonari | 226 comments Thanks so much for taking the time to look into this! I really appreciate your insight.

Yes, that’s why I was hesitant about separating/combining the edition—it has over 4000 ratings and has been shelved 7000 times. I know people are likely rating for the published Kindle edition (ASIN B0DTXGKNLF was listed as book 2 in the series), and I didn’t want to create any more confusion with the process. (Apologies for any incorrect edits!)

I’ve cleaned up the entire series, and this is the last one still causing some trouble. Thanks again for your help, and I’ll look forward to hearing Jaclyn’s opinion when she’s available.

Appreciate it!
