Jason Oliver | 3046 comments Larry Thornton worked for and is currently on the Board of Directors for Coca-Cola Bottling Company United, the company I work for as well as owning many McDonald franchises and participating on the Board of Directors for other companies. He has started the Why Not Win? institute and came to my sales center to speak. In anticipation, we were given a copy of his book.

There are many things that are interesting, helpful and useful in his book and how to "win". His experience and how he chose to handle racism is sad yet powerful.

Thornton's definition of winning is different than my own. He pushes winning as financial success and being able to give back to your community. He comes across as a workaholic which lead to his divorce.

I do plan to take some of the lessons learned, especially about organization and time management. However, there is a large philosophical difference of what is appropriate to sacrifice.

KateNZ | 4100 comments So interesting, Jason! And I agree with you. I’m not sure how anything that costs you your family or friends could be classed as a win.

Cherry-picking the more useful stuff sounds like a great approach
