The librarian manual states that a Kindle ACE can be created as an Ebook since librarians can no longer add those as ACEs, so I'm requesting that the Kindle cover not be replaced but an Ebook created instead.

Quote below from manual.

Optionally, an added edition can be created as an ‘ebook’ or ‘audiobook’ format in Goodreads catalog to represent a previously used cover image.

Emmy de Reus (nyneve) | 20891 comments Hi Edwina,

I'm not quite sure how to deal with this.

As far as I understand the existing cover for the present Kindle edition will now automatically be edited by auto-upload from the Amason catalog, but this has not yet been effected.

Do you wish me to add a new edition (ebook, because we cannot select Kindle anymore), without ASIN, and use the cover of the existing edition whilst waiting for that cover to be auto-replaced?

Or should I also go ahead and replace that 'old' cover for the new one in the already existing booklisting?

I think that you will need to copy the old cover then create an ebook with that cover with a librarian note, "This is the previous cover of Kindle ASIN: B0DM6LQXK5."
Then replace the old Kindle cover with the new one.

Emmy de Reus (nyneve) | 20891 comments I already thought so, but I'm glad with your confirmation.

Wow, this is a real improvement compared to the ACE procedure... (NOT!)

Emmy de Reus (nyneve) | 20891 comments A) Created a new ebook edition without ASIN, with the previous cover image and the publication date of the previous edition (2024/12/12), and added a librarian note as well as a note in the description field: "Previous cover edition for the Kindle edition with ASIN: B0DM6LQXK5"

B) Corrected the existing booklisting as follows
- Replaced the cover image and mentioned in the change log: "Updated cover as per new image on Amazon's webpage."
- Updated the publication year/month to 2025/04 as we would have done when creating a new ACE
- Added a librarian note as well as a note in the description field: "A previous cover edition for this ASIN can be found here."

I appreciate the time you took to do this.
At least this cover was saved from deletion, but I'm sure that many more will disappear forever. It's a shame they couldn't have just left it the way it was with creating ACEs. We all know that when Crazy Bot gets involved it causes nothing but more work for librarians.
I'm seeing countless duplicate editions bot added with bogus ASINs and I also came across a series of 5 books that were bot added all on the same edition page as book 1.
I'm sure things will only get worse.
