Valentine | 1493 comments Hello to other librarians ~

I know rumoured/unconfirmed releases are not allowed to be added to Goodreads, but that definite forthcoming works with partial information available are. I just wanted to check; this book hasn’t been confirmed that I can see on its’ publisher’s site, but has an ISBN, an Amazon listing, and is listed on the ‘books’ page of the author’s site (though just as ‘coming soon from HarperVoyager UK’). Is it confirmed enough for us to be able to add, despite the lack of a publisher page? I’m assuming it’s okay given it has an ISBN, but would very much appreciate someone else’s opinion; I’ve never added a book with a release date quite so advanced (April 2026), and don’t want to unintentionally make an error given it’s not yet listed on the publisher’s site.

It’s this book here, if it helps: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mercutio-Kat...

Thank you for any advice.

Tawnya | 4034 comments I read an author who for years touted a spin-off. He even had the first two titles listed in the back of several books. Then a family emergency happened. Those books (which were listed on GoodReads) were never published. Once he was able to start writing again he told us that he had changed the trajectory of what was coming. I contacted support to get those false books removed. It amazes me that people are able to rate books before they exist.

Anyway, I would hold off. Most likely the book will be added by the bots closer to the publishing date. Keep track of the author and fix whatever the bots screw up...because there is a 95% chance that something will be wrong.

Valentine | 1493 comments Thank you, Tawnya. This is why I was a tiny bit hesitant; it’s a year for something to potentially change, and I don’t really like using Amazon as a sole source of information for forthcoming books. I will leave it be for now then, and keep a bit of an eye on it. Thank you for taking the time to reply to me.
