Mike Gene | 1 comments The whole debate about intelligent design and evolution is so polarized, political, and even downright ugly, that I would have to be crazy to write a book about this topic. But then again, perhaps this is the reason I wrote my book, as the debate about design, which extends at least back to the time of Aristotle, need not be so unpleasant. There is a large expanse of neglected middle ground that lies between the two feuding sides. Yes, intelligent design is not science, but this does not mean we cannot investigate. Yes, there is no proof or compelling evidence for design, but this does not mean there are no clues that lead to sincere suspicions. Yes, evolution is a fact, but this does not mean it cannot co-exist with design. In fact, evolution itself may have been shaped by design. I wrote my book to explore these possibilities and outline a method to help navigate through this heated and ambiguous topic. I wrote the book not to preach or join the Culture Wars, but to encourage critical thinking about these issues and open up a whole new perspective on our wondrous living world.
