Karin | 9248 comments I'm glad you're on the mend, Cindy. Will your left eye eventually be able to see again?

Amy | 12953 comments Wishing healing and white light for both Jen and Cindy.

So on a lighter note, we have no Internet for the whole evening. No Wi-Fi. So obviously this means no Internet for Cameron‘s homework or for watching shows or for Xbox or for anything I want to do online. I already took care of my French when I was out driving Cameron to soccer practice and back. But it’s so interesting to me because even with the limited hotspots and LTE on my phone, it’s almost as if we don’t know what to do with that! I am reserving my hotspot for a little bit later because I’m gonna have to get on good reads to review a book and do it in time for Wednesday’s compass and also play harder. But now that I finished my audio, I’m also gonna be able to use that through my phone without endangering my hotspot and can order a new one through my phone. But alas, I cannot review books on my phone. Or do anything all that interesting. We are so spoiled with our new technology. I mean, wouldn’t this just be the night to curl up and read a book? Getting a new modem tomorrow afternoon.

I would be the same way. I guess I would pick up one of the many DTBs and read it.

I left my phone at home one day when I had to run to court to file and get some papers signed. I was so thrown off - couldn't check time, emails, MTA schedules, on and on. I had a print book with me actually, and of course my file with papers, but I was so thrown off. It was what you say, Amy, I didn't know what to do with myself!

Did I actually need the phone during those 2 hours or so I was dealing with it? Absolutely not.

Yes, I suspect there will be a couple of patches at the top of my vision that does not return (that's what happened - at the bottom of my vision in my other eye: in the spot that initially detached, the vision did not return).

(Sorry, I haven't looked back to see how much I said before.) I currently have a gas bubble in that eye and at the moment, it's like looking through water. Pretty sure that's just looking through the gas bubble. The gas will dissipate, though, and I should be able to see at that point.

(This all being said, a friend's husband had something go wrong and he did lose his sight, but I suspect that's an anomaly. Last time around, my vision did return.)

And thank you all for your well-wishes.

Okay, I wondered if it was the gas bubble. I just looked it up because my sister once had what must have been a minor one because she didn't need surgery and it healed (it was after a soccer ball hit her face) and was able to watch TV. Now I know that with the procedure you had plus the bubble you have to be face down, etc. That must have been excrutiating! My sister found it hard to spend all of her time in a recliner (she couldn't lie flat) and watch TV or do nothing, but then she's very physically active. What you went through was worse.

I hope things work out well for you and am guessing that your friend's husband's situation was an anomaly.

Lyn (lynm) | 1148 comments Cindy, glad to hear you are getting better. Anything with the eyes just seems so scary. Sounds like you are past the worst of it now.

Thanks, Karin. I talked to my friend today and his issues were others before his retina detached. He did not get help for the detachment soon enough, so by the time he went for help (not sure if he didn't realize something else was wrong with everything else he already had going on with his eye), it was too late.

It is, and yes, I should be.
