Alexandria ˙⋆✮ | 210 comments I've never read fantasy in my life. Which, some could think, is a shame.
I've seen a lot of books with high praise, like Powerless, Lightlark Shatter Me The Cruel Prince and so on.
So, can you recommend a romance fantasy for someone who's never read one?

paula kenneth | 233 comments I loved fourth wing, it was my first romantasy! But it has spice and I don't know if you are ok with it or not. Shatter me is my fav book!! It can be difficult for someone new to this genre tho. It's more of a dystopian romance than fantasy, but it still is an awesome book series!!

padme ⋆.˚ᡣ𐭩 | 66 comments my first fantasy series was acotar and it was amazing for a beginner imo and i think powerless is a great starter book too

Arielle Miller | 212 comments Following...

FYI everyone has also recommended ACOTAR, so it was going to be my next read on Audible (as I am currently already reading two physical books)... but it isn't available on Audible! :(

So it will have to wait til I finish Funny Story and On Beauty and then I'll check it out...

Let us know what you think if you do read it!

lyndi ♡ (lyndispurlock) | 10 comments a really great first fantasy is divine rivals bc it is fantasy but it's not as high fantasy as cruel prince, powerless, caraval, etc (all of which i also strongly recommend for after divine rivals lol)

Mbhabibti | 160 comments If you're 18+ and primarily a romance reader just start with ACOTAR. If you're under 18, read Once Upon a Broken Heart instead.

If you don't care as much for romance but want something easy/YA, try the Red Queen series.

Teo | 217 comments I'd say start with romantasy books and slowly work your way to high fantasy. The Cruel Prince, while an amazing book, is very slow paced at the start since there is a lot of world-building. Also, keep in mind that the romance is subplot.
Powerless and Caraval may be better choices to start with. Powerless has very little focus on the magical system overall, and Caraval is the book where magic and reality meet, so to say.
Heartless by Marissa Meyer- since I know from experience it gets people into fantasy and it's also a standalone.
Lightlark had a lot of potential but isn’t exactly well executed, and the magical system may get confusing.
