I was advised to post here, it seems, as I can't update it myself.

Hey Kimberly, can you confirm how long I should wait to see the changes? Some forums online said it's instant, and some said there was a cache, but I tried a private browser this morning and I still see the old cover?

Hey Kayla - I just took a look to see what's going on.

When a book gets a new cover, the old one is not deleted. Instead, what's called an "alternate cover edition" is created. So, the edition with the previous cover still exists, but so does the new one with the same ISBN, etc.

All editions of the same book are considered one distinct work, so all ratings and reviews are tied to the book itself rather than the individual editions. But regardless, there are still individual links to each edition. (It's a little confusing, I know, but hopefully this explanation helps. The crux of it is, though, that old covers are never deleted.)

Here are the individual links to the 3 editions that are listed. And while the format and cover may be different for them, you will see that the reviews/rating are the same for all of them because they're all tied together:

Ah, thank you. Yes, I knew that old covers weren't deleted, but I didn't realise I had to set the edition. I've just done so (set the correct edition, I mean), but in the main search results, I am still seeing the old edition. Is there a way for when I search "The Minor Fall" that the result that appears is the current edition, rather than an old one? This was always a temporary cover just for ARC readers, and I'd like to published cover to be the one that appears by default so it is recognizable

Good question. I know there's nothing I can do on my end as a librarian to make one edition appear in favor of the other, but Goodreads technical support may be able to do that on their end. If you put in a request with them, they should be able to help you out.
