The story follows Makayla Rossi, who briefly leaves her sleeping three-month-old son Liam to use the airplane bathroom, only to return and find him missing from his bassinet. Immediately readers wonder......how can he go missing in flight?

Passengers and crew search the plane but Liam isn't found. No one actually remembers seeing her with a baby, and soon suspicions begin to mount about Makayla’s mental state. Her famous mother once had an on-air memory meltdown diagnosed as transient global amnesia. Her escalating desperation as both passengers and crew begin questioning her sanity had me feeling physically anxious. I was desperate to find out where the baby was.

The alternating perspectives help maintain a brisk pace while providing crucial information that builds toward the climactic revelation. The three primary POVs were Makayla, the co-pilot Anna in the air and FBI analyst Tina on the ground. Later we also get Makayla’s husband's POV.

The start was a bit slow and there were parts that were a quite repetitive, but the second half was tense and I couldn’t stop reading. The premise may have been somewhat unrealistic, but it's a thrilling ride, and I would definitely recommend this book to mystery readers.

Olivermagnus (lynda11282) | 4924 comments It was very tense. I knew the baby had to be in the plane somewhere. It wasn't great literature but it was the epitome of a thriller for the way it made me feel.
