Olivermagnus (lynda11282) | 4759 comments Kopp Sisters on the March is the fifth book in the Kopp Sisters series written by Amy Stewart. Constance and her two sisters, Norma and Fluerette, leave their farm and travel from New Jersey to Chevy Chase, Maryland, where Norma has signed up to teach a class on raising and training messenger pigeons as part of the National Service School, a series of short-term training camps for women. Many of the daughters of privileged families sign up to attend a National Service School to learn military bed-making, bandage-rolling, and other basics.

That wasn't their original intention but events at the end of the last book have Constance at loose ends. The sisters throw themselves into training and Constance finds that she enjoys teaching hand-to-hand combat and firearms skills. Once there, Constance is given the chance to oversee the camp, a combination of debutantes and serious military-minded women, many intent on challenging Constance’s authority. As always, she is a strong character who doesn't back down and who is determined to improve the lives of the women around her.

Once again, the author successfully weaves historical elements to her fictional plot, in this case, Beulah Binford, the woman involved in the famous Henry Clay Beattie Jr case. As always, the book is well-written and engaging, and historically accurate, though Stewart acknowledges that this is the most fictionalized account so far.

Readers don't have to have read the previous books in the series to enjoy this one and their family dynamics are always fun. There's intrigue, conflict, and humor leading to another enjoyable adventure with the Kopp sisters.
