Ready or Not meets Throne of the Fallen in a spicy, enemies-to-lovers fantasy romance, where an Italian getaway turns deadly after a young woman is trapped in her host family's cursed game.
Ready or not, the game has begun.
Genevieve Grimm has felt adrift ever since her sister became the head of the family. So when a mysterious friend of their mother's invites her to Italy, she accepts. She arrives at his grand palace, expecting passion and magic, decadence and luxury... perhaps even a midnight ball.
She doesn't expect the owner's ruthlessly handsome son to slam the door in her face. Rowin Silver is tall, dark, and exceptionally rude, and invitation or not, he demands Genevieve leave and never come back. But Genevieve follows nobody's orders, especially those of arrogant rich boys. She slips inside—and immediately discovers her mistake.
Rowin and his family are caught in an insidious game of hide and seek, where only one can win. The rest will be trapped in Hell... until the competition begins again.
Genevieve must either join the hunt or forfeit any hope of escaping. But to her dismay, her best chance of survival lies with Rowin. Since lovers may play as a pair, Rowin and Genevieve agree to form an alliance under the guise of a fake courtship. However, as they race through the game's elaborate labyrinth, trapped among gleaming gold and shining marble, their loathing gives way to irresistible attraction. Only Rowin is keeping secrets, especially when it comes to his ruthless family, and Genevieve can't help but wonder if she's trapped in two treacherous games: Enchantra and the one Rowin is playing with her heart.
Ch 1-10: (view spoiler)[Yeah, I probably wouldn't have made that deal if I were her because, like she said, Rowin knows this place a lot better than she does. Or maybe she wanted to be caught and be married to him? But also I remember how annoyed I was with Genevieve and what she did in the first book. So, I'm hoping that won't be the case this time around... lol. (hide spoiler)]
Ch 11-20: (view spoiler)[Oh, Rowin, you will cave eventually. I kept thinking Knox was in the first book... but I don't think he is. I remember Genevieve and Rowin were working together in the first book, but that's about it. So, it's really cool that we get to see that side in this one. I do think them being married is making it a bit more interesting. Oh, and that ring? Talk about a lifesaver in certain situations she keeps walking into. (hide spoiler)]
Ch 21-30: (view spoiler)[Yes, they are getting closer together! I like these two, and I just need them to realize what they mean to each other. Then I need them to say those words. Out loud. I feel like things are going to change after she saved his familiar.
Ugh, then they get close, like so close, and then pull back. Constantly. It's kind of driving me nuts. I just need them to go for it, accept it, and be proud. No more backtracking. (hide spoiler)]
Ch 31-40: (view spoiler)[Yay, they are finally telling each other their secrets. She did have some good points during their fight because it's not fair if she's the one being open all the time and he isn't. Even if it's just a partnership in the games, it will make things easier if there's actual trust between them. Though, in my mind, it will never just be a partnership. Feelings are definitely being developed and felt between them. I'm very happy but scared for whatever is going to happen next. (hide spoiler)]
Ch 41-Finish: (view spoiler)[Heck yes, family reunion! Oof, I was scared that he (Salem) took her memory to heal her. But I was soooooooo happy seeing him and Ophelia again! Then the ring?!?! The ring brought all the memories back, right? Genius! I had a feeling he (Rowin) was going to make a bargain for her.
Very happy with how this all ended and they were reunited. Very intrigued by those comments though... I'm not sure how I will be able to wait another year (or so) for the next book. (hide spoiler)]
