I feel like this book wasn't needed. It's not bad but also it's not something I would usually enjoy. I liked the first one as it had a good amount of romance, but with this being an established couple it felt all thriller.
I just started this one. They've been living a normal life for 2 years.
They even have a cat.
I wasn't expecting Asher's - you yelled at me.
Just didn't go with my image of him.
But then I guess it shows that he's allowed himself to open up and not cut off his emotions.
So far, there's been a lot of sex, and not enough movement in the story.
Asher felt different to me.There was the one scene where they were acting very much like hitmen. Torture and threating. And normally I'm all on board. Because I don't want my hitmen to be afraid of getting dirty.
But Asher and Harry don't fit that role any more.
Asher's very much given up that life and doesn't want to go back.
I think the purpose of this was to give Asher a country and a past.
It was okay. Not bad, not fabulous.
That's the 6 months up, so I've started reading this again. Harry & Asher have spent two years in Tallowwood and made friends with the local constabulary. They knew at the end of The Kite that they were too old for the lives they were leading, that change was necessary. The Kite/Tallowwood Crossover saw the start of this process. It will be interesting to be reminded how far they've moved from that point.
I'm pretty sure I read tallowood. But I didn't know there was a cross over when I started. I had no idea why there were othe characters with a point of view, until after I finished.
As violent as ever but still very enjoyable. Asher & Harry aren't the forces they once were but they gave it their best, once they got to grips with what was happening. Fortunately, that best was just good enough but Harry admitted to their successors near the end “I’m too old for that shit. You young pups can have it. I’m done.”
