I’m a librarian - how do I add a new book

I’d like to help with the backlog of new book requests, but can’t find anything, anywhere about how to add a new book to the system as a librarian. (To confirm, I mean add a book to the GR database, not a new edition of an existing book.)

I have a book ready to add.

I’ve scoured the manual, articles, all 12 pages of questions here, and am definitely #feelingstupid 🙇

Go to the author's profile, and then click to get to the full book list. Scroll to the end of the list, and there is a link at the bottom to add more books.

(If all the books are shown on the main profile page (not the case here) you can just do it from there.)

(My response is to a question about the series search, which seems to have been deleted while I was typing it. ... Leaving it here because this is a common question when trying to find a newly added book to include in a series.)

The series search has known bugs.

For example, newly added books can take DAYS to show up in a series search. Even worse, the series search tends to limit the results to half (or less) of what a general search would show.

You can try searching for the ISBN (if there is one) or ASIN. Or you could try including the author in the search. If those don't work, wait a few days and try again.

If it still doesn't work, contact support.

If the author does not yet have a page on GR, you can go to the search page: https://www.goodreads.com/search/
At the top right of that page is a link to manually add a book. This is that link: https://www.goodreads.com/book/new/
