The librarian manual states: 'Boxed sets (sold as a boxed set with one ISBN),' are valid, but what about physical boxed sets that only have an ASIN (not Kindle or eBook, but paperback and hardcover)? Since these are from third-party resellers, should these be marked as invalid?

If a physical box set only has an ASIN it is most likely a second hand item and therefore not a valid edition. So not really different from single books.
These are usually not a true boxed set, but rather a collection of books with different titles by the same author. In other words, not sold as a true boxed set by the original publisher but instead as individual books.
