Anita Pomerantz | 9280 comments The next person up is Shelly!

You can either steal:

(1) A book with a character who is an alien (or might be one) (Linda C)
(3) Listen to an audiobook (Joi)
(4) Read a book you think your mother would like (or would have liked) (Joanne
(5) Read a book with a title that contains all the letters of your first name. (Pam)

OR, you may open 2, 6, or 7.

message 52: by Shelly (new)

Shelly | 937 comments Joanne,
I will leave you in peace, enjoy your evening read and enjoy thinking about your mom.

I would like to steal #1 (character who is an alien).

Shelly

message 53: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12568 comments Thank you Shelly-*sigh* though my mom hardly read, I could make it work....

message 54: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 15510 comments Oh this is hilarious - mine was the mother would like prompt so thank you JoAnne from saving me from picking my own!

Looks like Fran and I are the only two left who haven't had a crack at it.

message 55: by Linda C (new)

Linda C (libladynylindac) | 1779 comments Oh, I liked the alien one :(
I'll try #2

I agree with Robin's entire statement here! :-D

Linda, I hope you like cooking.

(2) Read a book with recipes in it. Make one of the recipes and include a review of the recipe in your review

message 59: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 15510 comments Hmmmm... I will open No. 7 since no risk of getting my own prompt!

message 60: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12913 comments OK - I was really afraid of the discarded prompts! But I would have picked or enjoyed the letters in the name, the audiobook, or the mother prompt. I am not a fan of aliens, but there is a wonderful book pick for that. I will try to find the actual title, but I want to go with Where the Forest Meets the Stars.... Joanne if you are the one who stays with that, let me know and I will find the actual name...

message 61: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 15510 comments @Amy - I knew the mother prompt which I was passing on would have been perfect for you when you were debating submitting one.

Booknblues | 12055 comments 4 Sorry Joanne

message 66: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12913 comments OK - I would have loved everything but the alien! I got too scared. but at least I spared you all from pre-historic! Althought Joanne and Holly each have me with a good choice.

Theresa, for alternate history, I would suggest The Boleyn KIng - which ends up being a series of 3 or 6. I adored them, and the author is a neighbor. Although she never wrote me back. LOL.

message 67: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12568 comments No worries BnB!

Anita I will steal from Linda

Read a book with recipes in it. Make one of the recipes and include a review of the recipe in your review.

Theresa, I had a feeling that's the prompt you were submitting! It helped me take the leap because I knew I wouldn't mind that one.

I would actually like all of these (so far) better than mine, although audiobook would be a tossup.

Thanks Pam! I belong to a cookbook club so this is a great one for me! I already have the book for March!

message 73: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 15510 comments I love alternate history and have options in my TBR! Plus I'm sure there's at least one alternate history upcoming this year for my IRL Feminerdy Book Club that I can just read now.

Thank you whoever tossed it into the pot!

message 74: by Theresa (last edited Feb 26, 2025 08:22AM) (new)

Lyn (lynm) | 1117 comments I have a feeling there will be more participation next time. This has been fun to watch, and the prompts are not too bad. There are only a few I would not have wanted. Yep, look for me to sign up next time!

message 77: by Joi (last edited Feb 26, 2025 10:03AM) (new)

Joi (missjoious) | 3970 comments The alien one was my throwaway. I figured it's really not my genre, but someone else may love it! Glad to see that came true.

On pins and needles waiting to see how this ends!

message 78: by Shelly (new)

Shelly | 937 comments Although I am tempted to open the last prompt, I don't want the fun to end just yet.
I am going to steal (3) audiobook from Joi.

(Whoever ends up with aliens, maybe we can do a buddy read!)

message 80: by Joi (new)

Joi (missjoious) | 3970 comments Darn! I thought I might be able to quietly keep that one, I love audiobooks, lol.

Going to steal (4) Read a book you think your mother would like (or would have liked) from BooknBlues. My mom is a VORACIOUS reader, and I love getting her recs, and borrowing her books when I go home to visit.

message 81: by Booknblues (new)

Booknblues | 12055 comments Dang, Joi!

I'm going to have to steal "alternate history" from Theresa.

message 82: by Theresa (last edited Feb 26, 2025 12:29PM) (new)

Theresa | 15510 comments And here I thought it was safe to ignore this (for work reasons) for a while... I knew if BnB didn't get to keep the mother prompt, she'd steal mine!

Anita - No need to post the options.

I'm going to be brave and open #6. 🤞🏻

Sorry to end the run, but I'm already excited for the next time we have a prompt swap!

message 83: by Pam (new)

Pam | 498 comments You're braver than me, Theresa!! I knew I couldn't do it. I'd just be stealing prompts for all eternity :)

We discussed this so you probably guessed this was my prompt swap-

2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of Microsoft. Read a book where a computer or computer-related technology plays a major role in the story.

Oh, I'm fine with that! As our beloved JoAnne would say - Yip!

So I was the last one to chose and the last prompt was mine. I knew better to open that would have loved the one about mom., because I have a few of the books i gave her.

message 90: by Anita (new)

Anita Pomerantz | 9280 comments Way to go swappers!! You did a great job. I presume everyone is clear on what you have and what you can remove from your challenges.

I think everyone ended up with a pretty good situation, but just in case you are unhappy, I'm going to hold an auction. The winner of the auction can trade out the prompt they currently have for one of three prompts I will draw at random.

There will only be one winner for this auction. Only swap participants may play.

The bidding starts at 5 participation points. You may post your bids below.

If everyone is happy and there's no bidders, that's totally fine too!

message 91: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 15510 comments I love what I ended with - I immediately pulled 3 books that have been on my TBR forever that fit it and even fit March thriller tag!

One persons trash is another's treasure - so to speak.

@BnB - too bad we couldn't have just swapped - you would have gotten the mom prompt from me and I would have gotten the computer prompt from you.

Oh Anita - what a great idea! I am happy!

And thanks for the fun everyone.

message 93: by Shelly (new)

Shelly | 937 comments I'm good.
Currently, there are over 9,000 audiobooks available now on Libby! and 1,777 are tagged "thriller."

message 94: by Pam (new)

Pam | 498 comments I'm thrilled with mine. I ended up with way more options than I expected from the three letters in my first name -- including at least one thriller.

This was fun, and I'm so glad not to have that recipe hanging over my head. Thanks for throwing in prompts everyone! Hope everyone ended up with something they're happy with.

message 95: by Joi (new)

Anita, thanks so much for doing this. It was so fun! And I was really dreading that prompt I traded and ended up with something I like so much more.

Theresa wrote: "@BnB - too bad we couldn't have just swapped - you would have gotten the mom prompt from me and I would have gotten the computer prompt from you...."

Yes, I thought of that as well but the alternate history works for me, as I have a couple in my tbr that are on the first pages.

I'd have been in big trouble with the recipe one. Is it "fair" to include an extra step beyond reading!!!?

Oh, I could do nonfiction for this! There is so much about AI out there that is interesting to read about. :-)

message 100: by LibraryCin (new)

LibraryCin | 11669 comments I have to say I love that everyone seems to have ended up happy! Theresa took the biggest risk at the end there, so it's great she was happy, too!
