Anita Pomerantz | 9280 comments We will get started on the actual swapping on Monday!

If there are any last minute participants, please sign up here:

https://forms.gle/BhhmcMYT83LcQx2b7

Here's who I have registered so far:

Booknblues
Joanne
Joi
Linda C
Pam
Shelly
Theresa

Tomorrow, I will select who will be the first person to open a prompt using the randomizer.

Anita Pomerantz | 9280 comments Rules

Here's how the prompt swap will work.

- The order of play will be generated at random.

- The first person will select a number from a list of numbers that I provide. Each number is affiliated with a prompt. I, then, announce which prompt the first person has opened.

- The second person can either steal the open prompt from the first person. Or, they may pick a new number and open a new prompt. If they steal the first person's prompt, then the first person has the opportunity to select a new number.

- The third person may then steal either one of the opened prompts, or select a new number to open.

We continue ad infinitum until all the prompts are opened and distributed.

Each person may possess a given prompt no more than three times total.

message 3: by Anita (new)

Anita Pomerantz | 9280 comments Joanne, you will be the first player in the swap to have a turn. Please indicate on Monday which prompt you want to open.

The current choices are 1-7, but I will let you know if that changes.

message 4: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12564 comments Wow, I wasn't expecting that. Hopefully, it is a good one. I may forget to ask for a number tomorrow as I have a busy day. So if it is okay, I will choose # 5 right now.

That's fine, Joanne! If anyone else joins, I can just reshuffle using the randomizer. Pop by tomorrow to see what you opened :).

Joanne, you have opened the following prompt:

(5) Read a book with a title that contains all the letters of your first name.

message 7: by Anita (new)

Anita Pomerantz | 9280 comments Next person up, is Joi.

Joi, you may either steal Joanne's prompt (#5), or open a new prompt (1-4, 6, or 7).

message 8: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12564 comments Are you kidding!! Anita that is the one I submitted-😄

message 9: by Anita (new)

Anita Pomerantz | 9280 comments Joanne wrote: "Are you kidding!! Anita that is the one I submitted-😄"

Okay, that's pretty unlucky! Hopefully someone steals it away from you. Someone with a short name!

message 10: by NancyJ (last edited Feb 24, 2025 01:13PM) (new)

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11060 comments Oh no! That one would scare me too. Necromancy?! 😬

Subtitles should count, which would help. Joanne, do you have any interest in Joan of Arc? There are a lot of books about her, and the subtitles provide the extra letters.

Pam | 498 comments Joanne wrote: "Are you kidding!! Anita that is the one I submitted-😄"

No worries, Joanne! If nobody else wants it by the time it's my turn, I won't mind taking it off your hands. I've got at least a handful that would fit my three letters :)

message 12: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12909 comments That would be awesome Pam! If you already have found one that you can tolerate. And that gives Joanne another option. I think I’m gonna have fun watching this. I would’ve been able to find something with that prompt. Amy is pretty easy.

message 13: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12564 comments Thank you, Thank you Pam! Lordie I have no luck!

message 14: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12564 comments Thanks Nancy but I read a cookbook already every month, for my cookbook club. So I really do not want another one on my hands. The books about Joan of Arc that I want to read, I have.

message 15: by Joi (new)

Joi (missjoious) | 3970 comments Woot woot! I'm surprised the list of participants is so small!

I will take Nancy's #5- (5) Read a book with a title that contains all the letters of your first name.

I'm sure I can find something with my short 3-letters, 'join' is a popular word. This seems like a safe prompt, lol.

message 16: by NancyJ (new)

It wasn’t mine, it was Joanne’s. This is really fun to watch.

Joi (missjoious) | 3970 comments Well whoever’s it is- I’ll take it :)

message 18: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12564 comments Ok then, I am glad I get to choose again, thanks Joi!
I will try # 3.

(3) Listen to an audiobook

message 21: by Anita (new)

Anita Pomerantz | 9280 comments Pam! You are up!

You can either steal 5 or 3:

5. Read a book with a title that contains all the letters of your first name. (Joi)
3. Listen to an audiobook (Joanne)

or you can open 1, 2, 4, 6 or 7.

message 22: by Pam (new)

Pam | 498 comments Oh gosh, well... I really don't want an audiobook, and I really don't want to accidentally pick my own discarded prompt, so I think I'm going to have to steal #5! Sorry, Joi!!

message 23: by Anita (new)

Anita Pomerantz | 9280 comments Your turn again Joi!

message 25: by Linda C (new)

Linda C (libladynylindac) | 1779 comments Me either, which is why I threw that in the pot. Glad it's out so I can try to avoid it when it's my turn

Booknblues | 12047 comments Linda C wrote: "Me either, which is why I threw that in the pot. Glad it's out so I can try to avoid it when it's my turn"

And I was guessing it was Theresa. I hope there is somebody here who likes audio. I'm not a fan.

I actually wouldn't swap out that one. I do not care for audiobooks but there are a few I have no problem listening to - for books I already read. Though usually I only listen when traveling long distances.

message 28: by Joi (new)

Joi (missjoious) | 3970 comments I will take Joanne's again! (3) Listen to an audiobook

message 29: by Joi (new)

Joi (missjoious) | 3970 comments Pam, that was the same reason I chose Joanne's- I really don't want the one I discarded, LOL!

message 30: by Anita (new)

Anita Pomerantz | 9280 comments Lol, Joanne, you are up again!

You can steal 5:

or you can open 1, 2, 4, 6 or 7.

message 31: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 15500 comments I'm sending positive energy JoAnne's way that she picks mine so I don't have to worry about getting it!

message 32: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12564 comments Let's hope I get something I can I use. Going for the # 1

message 33: by Pam (new)

message 36: by Olivermagnus (last edited Feb 25, 2025 12:35PM) (new)

Olivermagnus (lynda11282) | 4759 comments I almost wish I had submitted a prompt. This is so much fun to watch. I'm definitely in next quarter.

message 37: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12564 comments Not thrilled-Folks really threw out their trash, eh? 😄😄😄I could make it work if I had too, but someone else really wants mine, no hard feelings!

message 38: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 15500 comments It's so much fun to watch! And so interesting to see what was offered up! I'm waiting for my name and considering my options. Though the prompt I put in hasn't been picked yet.

message 39: by Rachel N. (new)

Rachel N. | 2234 comments This is fun to watch. Joanne I hope you end up with a tag you like. I actually would be fine with any of the three prompts so far, even though I'm not playing this time around.

message 40: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12564 comments I had bad luck the last time we played this type of game, so I was pretty prepared! But, thanks Rachel!

message 41: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 15500 comments @Anita - there needs to be a prize of some sort for the person from whom the most prompts are stolen. I think at this point JoAnne might have too big a lead to be beat!

message 42: by Robin P (new)

Robin P | 5729 comments Olivermagnus wrote: "I almost wish I had submitted a prompt. This is so much fun to watch. I'm definitely in next quarter."

Yes, I am enjoying being a spectator and sorry I'm not in it to get the audiobook once since I listen to them constantly.

message 43: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 15500 comments @JoAnne - just realized what you really are in this - The Stalking Horse! You open all the prompts, one by one, having each 'stolen'- so the rest of us can see what you have opened and not inadvertently open our own!

🐎🐎🐎🐎

Pam | 498 comments Joanne wrote: "Folks really threw out their trash, eh? 😄😄😄”

😂😂😂

Oh no, Joanne! I actually would love that alien one, though :) Hopefully it’s all going to work out…

I don’t think the one I submitted will be bad for most people. It was just a personal thing for me. Guess we’ll find out!

message 46: by Linda C (new)

Linda C (libladynylindac) | 1779 comments Back to Joanne! I'm stealing (1) A book with a character who is an alien (or might be one) (Joanne)

Theresa | 15500 comments Whoop! Go JoAnne! 🥳

message 48: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12564 comments I am laughing so hard! Will I ever get to lie down and read tonight? I am a tired old lady spent the whole day with my sister's insurance advocate!!

Anita-I am assuming the numbers are the same you gave Linda-I am picking # 4

message 49: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12564 comments P.S. I will leave my computer on and check after each chapter I read. I will stay on the alert, I promise.
