Arielle Miller | 10 comments I feel like we need to get this ball rolling... so let's start with something easy :)

What are y'all reading right now?

I'm reading two books:
The City and Its Uncertain Walls
Looking for Mr. Goodbar

Hope you're all having a great week!

Nicole | 10 comments Hi there 😊 just finished the defy the night series by Bridgette Kemmerer

Still deciding what to start hehe 😅

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week !

Luisa (ochrasyutopia) | 7 comments I had a good start of the year when it comes to books. I usually have a sprint of reading until I find a book that I don’t want to finish and then I tend to get a reading block and stop for a while until I find something interesting.

I am currently reading The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. It’s a heroic fantasy and a big one at that - 700 pages 🫣

Apparently it’s quite famous but I hadn’t heard about it before, I was drawn to it by the title and the pretty cover and so far I am quite into it 😍

Brandon | 7 comments Babel by RF Kuang and Carl’s Doomsday Scenario by Matt Dinniman.

I’m having the week from hell but I hope everyone else is doing great!

message 5: by Annika (new)

Annika | 5 comments I'm reading Sword of Destiny (The Witcher) as buddy read and To kill a kingdom.

Hope it gets better for you soon Brandon. I'm not having the best week but hope more of you have a good one.

Brandon | 7 comments Thanks Annika! How are you liking the Witcher series? I’ve always wanted to get into the books, I’ve played the games a bit!

message 7: by Annika (new)

Annika | 5 comments I really like the series so far. The first two books are collections of short stories to get to know the world and the characters. For people who know nothing about it (no games or series) it might be a little hard to get into but I definitely recommend starting with these two books. It is really nice how Sapkowski mixes fighting, classic fairytales, folklore and philosophical discussions about morals together. I'm in the buddy read with a gamer so it is nice to get those insights as well. Many gamers seem to hate Yennefer :D

Brandon | 7 comments Awesome, thanks for the advice. Adding them to my tbr!!

Luisa (ochrasyutopia) | 7 comments I live in Poland so Sapkowski is a big deal here ☺️ The Name of the Wind gives me similar feels like the Witcher actually, so that’s pretty cool. Polish people usually are very defensive about the Netflix adaptation cause there is a Polish miniseries from 2002 (The Hexer) and they say it’s the faithful one 😛 I liked both tho, I wonder if you guys have seen and liked the netflix version and do you prefer the book?

message 10: by Annika (new)

Annika | 5 comments Great, looking forward to hear what you think Brandon. The first book is The Last Wish.
Understandable Luisa. I watched all 3 seasons before reading any book and I liked the first season but not the second and third. I like the books better so far, have you read them? It's cool that the Name of the Wind is similar, I definitely want to read that one at some point.

message 11: by Brandon (new)

Brandon | 7 comments I will let you know Annika! And I’ve always wanted to read name of the wind as well but from what I hear, he’s never going to finish the series and I don’t know if I want to do that to myself lol

message 12: by Saida (new)

Saida Inoa | 4 comments I just finished The Last Mrs. Parrish, and loved it so much. The turns and scheming was fantastic. Today I started Infinite Country, let's see how it goes.

Luisa (ochrasyutopia) | 7 comments I am now halfway through Lady Tan’s Circle of Women and it’s really exquisite (but also quite disturbing). And next week I am off work so hopefully will get more time to read 🥳

Angela La Voie (angela_la_voie) | 2 comments Hi! I’m reading The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon.

message 15: by Stephen (new)

Stephen Currently reading The Bean Trees, been on a Barabra Kingsolver kick lately. Love her writting! Also reading Finding the Mother Tree by Suzanne Simard. I work in reforestation so this books hits close to home. Beautiful book.

message 16: by RiRi (new)

RiRi | 4 comments Currently reading The Violinist of Auschwitz; just finished reading The Girl Who Escaped From Auschwitz (same characters in both books but they each focus on different ones). Both are based on true stories and although they aren't easy reads mentally, they are extremely well written. I prefer to read the book first and then look up online what the real people looked like and their incredible stories.

Also ^^ I own every single book in The Witcher series and have not started a single one 😅

Paula Minydzak (kaiamisk) | 2 comments Currently reading a lot of Sandra Brown books. I think Overkill is my favorite.
