duplankk | 3 comments lately i've been starting books and just giving up on them halfway through. how do find the motivation/time to get through a whole book?

Cealie Aitchison | 72 comments It really depends... sometimes I just have to accept that the book isn't for me and that I won't ever finish it because I simply just don't like it. However, sometimes I choose to power through and the second half ends up being way better and I end up enjoying the read.

What is your favourite genre to read? I sometimes try reading cutesy romances or a gripping thriller to get me out of a reading slump. Or maybe try re-reading a book you love to reignite your passion of reading :) xx

Merçi Messi | 2 comments For me,i watch TikTok edits on prospective books that I’m really interested in reading! This prompts me to read the book and gets me back into reading ! Also make sure you don’t have any electronics near you to distract you when you plan to read. Hope this helps xx

niamh ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚ | 18 comments This is gonna sound really obvious but I just force the book into my hands and open the page before my brain can catch up and stop me from reading it because for me most of the time I’m procrastinating, I know it sounds hard but just really quickly grab the book and open it up.

If you can’t do that, I reccomend watching videos on TikTok of the book or other booktokkers just to get some inspiration to read

If nothing works still I would invest in a phone jail

Yazminz | 142 comments i forced myself to read a soft book, like a little romance or something short, that helps me

aubree kalyn (aubreekalyn) | 19 comments i either force myself to read a book, or i move on and find a book i know is going to be fast paced and keep my attention. then when im out of my slump i go back to the book i abandoned reading

Murray Annae | 38 comments I get in slumps super easy so I alternate books with movies or series. I found it really helps, especially the switch in media so I don’t get burnt out either

kitkat (inked-pages) | 223 comments if you have a book that you really loved, i recommend rereading it. i was recently in a really bad slump, but i reread my favorite series (acotar) and it helped! this is also the second time that it’s gotten me out of a slump. hope this helps! <3

Emma Skapetis | 26 comments Rereading a favorite book or a romance book usually helps me. I'm currently slumpy now though 😭.

message 10: by rafa (new)

rafa | 2 comments just tell yourself you’ll read for say 20 minutes, set a timer and focus on reading intentionally until the timer, and if it goes off and you’re engaged keep reading, if not maybe it just isn’t the book for you and try another one :)

Raji | 13 comments I think that you might just have to find a book that’s right for you. And what I mean is, a book that is so good, you can’t even put it down. You should try get recommendations based on your fav genres, or try a really popular book, or something you think you might be interested in. Maybe even re-reading your fav book!!

message 12: by Kay (new)

Kay | 16 comments switch up genres, read a sample of books on your tbr til you find what you like, & take it day by day so maybe read 20 pages one day 30 the next etc

Clara 𐙚 (clara17) | 226 comments read kerri maniscalco’s books, trust me on this

✨AylatheActress✨ | 143 comments Try different genres. If you find that one genre you can't seem to finish any books from, try something different. Hope this helps!

bailey (bibliophilebailey) | 93 comments this happened to me during february, i usually don't like to have more than one current read.. but last month, i started a book and couldn't finish it. i started another one that i knew that i would like and it helped me get through both. also immersive reading, audiobook + physical/kindle copy helps me!

AJ Reads (manybooks_istheway) | 1 comments Something that really helps me is rereading one of my favorite books. This can help me remember why I love reading and it can help light that fire in me looking for the next book I end up really enjoying. Sometimes I might choose a short book or a book from my childhood I really enjoyed to help too.

thefabfairyꕥ | 212 comments - read a fast paced book
- reread one of your favorites or a book by one of your favorite authors that you know is a guaranteed five star
- make a book challenge! Like read for a certain amount of time, read a certain amount of books in a week, or read a book of a certain color cover. Sometimes setting goals to complete can get you motivated to read!
- sometimes it’s best to just give it time too. I was in a reading slump for one and a half months earlier this year but the longer you’re without something, the more you realize how important it is to you! And you’ll probably end up reading more books then before once you’re out of your reading slump
