NuttyRachy | 12 comments Currently struggling with First Bright Thing, which was recommended because I loved Night Circus. Struggling with the over exaggerated writing style and constant barrage of metaphors. It's tiring to read and I constantly feel like I'm looking words up in the dictionary

mindf*ck series

Steph Moran | 10 comments One Dark Window. The writing for the most part is great but I couldn't stand the poems or the nightmare's dialogue. It didn't vibe with the rest of it. I am going to give it another try later this year but it was so cringe the first time, which I hate because the story is intriguing.

The story is so so good in my opinion, but unfortunately overall the writing isn't that great which is such a bummer!

Belle Hartley | 1 comments The selection. It could have been so good if it wasn't written like an 11 year old girl's diary.

Mais | 2 comments "The Silent Patient" by Alex Michaelides
This thriller has an incredibly gripping plot with plenty of twists and turns, but some readers find the writing to be a bit flat and formulaic. Still, it’s a page-turner!

Hiii I'd like to make the case that Crave is a worthwhile read, as long as you're looking for a YA fantasy rec (PG-13 romance). I read the books in 2021, and I had a blast. (: Once you get past the first half of the 1st book, the story becomes very action-packed and exciting! If you can see yourself in Grace (the fem main character) or can just find amusement in the cliches, you can get totally immersed in this fantasy world! The 2nd and 3rd books are my fav, they wrecked havoc on my teenage heart 💓

Cee Pinto (ceegpinto) | 104 comments Powerless, I DNF'ed it. One of the main reasons being the writing.

I also have to agree with @SObooks, I thought the same about the Caraval series, also one of the things that put me off continuing the series, I've read 2/4 books, working on the 3rd.

soph (no poles) I don’t know if you guys have seen the movie but My Fault: London just came out and the plot is AMAZING! But I do not recommend the book at all. It’s very cringy
