Tawnya | 4030 comments Just a heads up. You know how in 2023 the bots went through and change millions of ebooks to Kindles. Also how they have started adding ASINs to everything. I was worried that librarians would see an ASIN and change an ebook to Kindle even though it may have never been available on that platform. I never would have thought that the bots would be changing the books where ASINs were added, at least not how they went about it. An author I try to keep track of had about 30 ACEs changed from Kindle to ebook. That's right. Now the bots are doing the mistake the opposite way. Oy. Seriously, just have the two things combined and it won't bloody matter. I have looked at some of my Kindles. The ASIN is only shown the actual page to purchase. The books that are released as ebooks have the ISBNs for those listed, but I haven't found one book with the ASIN.

Any examples?

What you are describing is that bots are re-merging previously librarian/staff split ebook and kindle editions back into a single Kindle edition which is not what Tawnya was posting about. She was reporting that Kindle ACE's that no longer had the original Amazon ASIN in the record (stripped by the ACE tool) were being incorrectly changed to ebook format by the bot.
