I'll start today and I'm quite excited! Ali Hazelwood stepping into sports romance yay!
Chapter 1-13: The build up has been slow up until now and my interest was only piqued very slowly and gradually but I have a feeling the next chapter will speed things along quite a bit.Both the MCs feel like the usual Ali H characters. The FMC is too much inside her own head and funny (at least inside her head). The MMC is the super silent super tall type --huge, hulking and menacing but a total softie and gentleman at heart.
The sports side is fun. The FMC is a diver and I know almost nothing about diving as a sport. But I love swimming and so I'm trying to take in all the details.
However, my biggest hangup is one of the tropes --the friend's ex boyfriend trope and I. DO. NOT. LIKE. IT. Why Ali????? Aghjdkdds
Anyway, I'll try to keep an open mind for now.
I'm curious to find out more about why the FMC needs therapy and what trauma she sustained after her injury.
It's not just a sports romance either because well the MCs are both college kids and the FMC is pre-med and there is an academia and STEM angle which Ali H simply excels at. Looking forward to seeing more of that as well.
Chapter 1-5: Ali Hazelwood's writing is so simple but it is just so easy to read, this is hopefully going to be my last read of February and I am so so excited! I'm intrigued with the swim stuff as some of my best friends in high school were on the swim team (and really good) so I'm also excited about that.
Yess it's incredibly simple. I blazed through her writing.
I just finished this book last night and I really enjoyed it! I didn't like the ex-girlfriend plot with Pen even if I understood her. I just never enjoy the ex-girlfriend plot and I feel like Ali could've done something different.
I knowww @Kalena. That trope was my least favorite thing about this book. But on the whole I too enjoyed it and had a fun time with it.
