We're a month into 2025, how is your reading challenge going?
If you'd rather not have your own thread then you can post in here and let us know how you're getting on.

Rachael McCabe | 14 comments Mine is slow progress. I try to read for a bit every day, but in this book, Sarum, every chapter is like a short book in itself. Kindle reckons it's nearly 36 hours to the end of the book!

That’s a lot of reading time! If only real life wasn’t a thing, you’d be finished by the end of the weekend! Lol.
Progress is progress though and just think your total read pages will be sizeable at the end of the year!

message 4: by Rachael (new)

Rachael McCabe | 14 comments Oh definitely. I just need to pick short easy reads for my other 9 books 😆. xx

message 5: by Diana (new)

Diana | 20 comments I'm doing pretty good. My GR goal is set for 50, but I usually read at least double. Last year was 107 and I want to try to get back up to 125. As much as I love the GR challenge, I don't need the stress to have to read, if that makes sense. I try to read every day for at least 15 minutes.

This month I read 10 books (7 books and 3 audios) Of course, I always start off really well, then I hit a slump so fingers crossed.

I totally get that, Diana. I read 63 last year and I know I can easily do that again but didn’t want too much pressure so chose to put 60 for my challenge this year.
10 is a really good start, well done! I often slump too but am hoping to avoid that by trying to read each day, even if it is only a chapter!

The last day of February, how is everyone getting on with your reading challenges so far?

message 8: by Lyndsey (new)

Lyndsey | 6 comments I set a goal of 25 books for the year (hoping for more but don't always get much reading time) and I've just finished my 7th book so going pretty well so far 👍

Luna's Little Library (lunaslittlelibrary) | 2 comments bedbound and struggling to read atm but I'm getting through a lot of audiobooks. discworld books are really good as audiobooks. :)

Paul Stevens (renjihawk999) | 14 comments I love Discworld books have a large collection In my library. I’m onto Cartographer book 2 “Steel” it’s better than the first one but still missing something for me. Can’t put my finger on it, @luna have you listened to “St Mary’s chronicles” and “Time Police series by “Jodi Taylor” they have a good story and humour for an Audio listen

How is everyone doing with their challenge?

message 15: by Lyndsey (new)

Lyndsey | 6 comments I'm coming to the end of my 14th book of the year... quite happy with that tbh as I only did a challenge of 25 as I don't get much reading time these days.

14 is really good going! You’ll smash your target at this rate.

How is everyone doing with your reading?

message 18: by Paul (new)

Paul Stevens (renjihawk999) | 14 comments Not bad 7 of 18! I’m a slow reader but I did read that last one in a few weeks which ain’t bad for me. I just got the fourth book in the stalwart series so that be book 9 I reckon ^^

message 19: by Rachael (new)

Rachael McCabe | 14 comments Actually feel like I'm making progress with Sarum. It's not, in places, an easy read, and some areas are an uncomfortable read - such as the sexual content regarding minors, though of course in history they were of child bearing and marriage age. In general I'm enjoying it. Will be interesting to see how much of it is true, like the history of certain families. In terms of the book challenge, I could have read probably 3 books so far to this one, its so long!

message 20: by Lozz (new)

Lozz Jesson | 2 comments I’m on 12 out of 50 😬
Most of them are ARCS, but still counts.
I’m bit of a slowish reader. If I read too quick, I forget what the book is about.

message 21: by Paul (new)

Paul Stevens (renjihawk999) | 14 comments Most of mine are 800 page long books so I feel you Rachael! Also sounds hard going but interesting at the same time! Keep it up :)

And well done Loz! Any decent ones so far out of the 12?

Monthly round up time! How are you all doing?

message 23: by Paul (new)

Paul Stevens (renjihawk999) | 14 comments For me 3 audio books and 1 book book read in June. Going to use some downtime from work to read my next one: “The Watchmaker of Filgree Street”

message 24: by Lyndsey (new)

Lyndsey | 6 comments Read 20 books and halfway through the next... trying to have some reading time most days if I can, even if it's just a couple chapters.

Great reading both of you :)

That’s what I try and do too Lyndsey, read a bit every day even if just one chapter!

message 26: by Lyndsey (new)

Lyndsey | 6 comments Don't know if it's new, or if I'm just utterly unobservant but Goodreads now seems to be showing me friends reading challenge status?!

Yes I noticed the other day that if you view someones profile on the desktop version you can see their reading challenge. I’ve not seen it in my feed yet though. I’m pleased they bought it back!

I’m going to keep our little group going still.

Yay!!! Thank you!

message 29: by Diana (new)

Diana | 20 comments I just finished my 46th book for this year. The last few years, I lowered by challenge to 50 because I didn't want to stress myself out trying to reach my goal. I still read almost the same number of books- @120ish.

My kindle had 680 days in a row that I read. I had one busy day, and I didn't read, so it started all over. I was so mad at myself, but whatever. I'm now at 48 days and 154 weeks.

But good progress!
I’m doing really well with my challenges. Nearly reached my yearly target although not doing quite so well on minimising how many books I own! Lol. xx

message 33: by Rachael (new)

Rachael McCabe | 14 comments That's a good thing about the Kindle. It doesn't matter how many books you buy! xx
