Kim was a chameleon and was a different woman to different men. Definitely pathological and not very stable, but self-aware enough to be wholly out for herself.

Why Luke got involved with her? Maybe she appealed to his white knight personality, his need to save and protect. Josie rarely allowed herself to show she needed saving or protecting.
