How should an author name be displayed on shelves?

I feel stupid for even asking this but two different staff members have basically told me I'm wrong so I want to check with you.

I noticed that the displayed name on my shelves for the below author is "Krimmer, DJ".
When I noticed it, I contacted support and asked them to correct it to "Krimmer, D.J.".

First one staff member said that according to the manual it should be the same as what it appears on the book cover.
I insisted that it should be "Krimmer, D.J." when displayed on shelves.
The second staff member said it appears without punctuation for technical reasons.
I insisted again, sending links to other authors author pages and referred them to when they did change it on an other author just the other day. I also provided print screens of what it looks like on my shelves with other authors with their names in a similar way as proof.
I haven't heard back yet.

Am I in the wrong here?
