Six times a year, we shine a light on seven storytellers who share tales that might not otherwise see the light of day. It's a whole new way to read short fiction and BOTM members are loving it!

We like our stories intense, offbeat, and fun in a slightly naughty way. So expect bad behavior, adult themes, a little magic and a bit of menace. You might not like all of these stories. Some might even make you a bit uncomfortable. But we certainly don't think you'll be bored

Fantasy Dad Talk 2 stars (view spoiler)[Seems as though this girl has dreams about having some honest conversation with her dad. Not really, she just wants to tell her dad about all the terrible things he did and how she feels about his neglect, etc. Then she wakes up?? (hide spoiler)]

Quickly, while they still have horses 2 stars (view spoiler)[ Wow, he should leave Paola. I'm not understanding why he would stay with her. She wouldn't go with him to visit his family until there is news that his town has the last horse. (hide spoiler)]

Interns 1 star (view spoiler)[ Really just a tale about two college girls with messed up morals and habits. (hide spoiler)]

Terrible Argument 2.5 stars (view spoiler)[ A story about a couple that does nothing but argue. Arguments that sometimes moved out to the front yard. Arguments that sometimes required the police to end. The poor rescued dog is kind of stuck in the middle. I have to say, although I didn't like the couple, I did want the story to continue so I could find out if the woman returned and whether the dog ended up being okay. (hide spoiler)]

Bad Boy 1 star (view spoiler)[ Definitely not my kind of story. A couple who control a friend who is hurting. Ultimately, they end up pushing him to the point that he kills his girlfriend. (hide spoiler)]

Wood Sorrel House 3 stars (view spoiler)[ This was an interesting story. I couple, with their baby boy, are in a cabin the woods. Eventually they realize that they don't remember a time before the cabin. Nor can they figure out how the food supplies keep being replenished. Eventually, Jacob (the husband) doesn't return and the mom realizes that nothing harms or kills the baby. She tries many ways to kill him but nothing works. She does venture as far away as she can only to find nothing. She returns to the cabin, does some "remodeling" and then appears to be dying. (hide spoiler)]
