Ethan | 2 comments I’m a new reader and currently just finished book 1 of the gentleman bastards sequence (The lies of Locke Lamora) and I really enjoyed it.

Wondering anyone’s fantasy suggestions for a new reader like I mean completely new, I read regularly for my university but nothing fictional and I love fantasy that’s why I joined this.

I’m sure all you veterans will have some great suggestions for a newbie I’m open to anything fantasy related I just love using my imagination on distant worlds etc etc

Thanks in advance :)

Addison :) | 39 comments There are so many good ones! I think that any books by Sarah J Maas are good for getting into fantasy. Some of my favorites are also Quicksilver by Callie Hart, The Serpent and the Wings of Night by Clarissa Broadbent, and Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros :)

Amanda | 50 comments I think you would LOVE the Red Rising series by Pierce Brown.

The first three books are a completed trilogy, the world building is digestible but the story line gets more complex as it goes, and has a male protagonist.

Essentially humans have colonized Mars in an effort to save the human race from extinction, and people are put into a caste system organized by color.

It was one of my top reads of 2024 and every one of the books is absolutely incredible. Tons of action, politics, strategy and so many backstabbing moments it’s insane.

Matilda | 3 comments I’ve found that Sarah J Maas’ books are great for getting into fantasy! They got me into fantasy too, I started with her ACOTAR series. I also think that Stephanie Garber’s once upon a broken heart and caraval trilogies are great fantasy reads you could start with! 🪄 I found they were very engaging and fun to read, especially after busy days at university - all I’d want after a heavy uni day would be a nice escapism read, and caraval/once upon a broken heart very much fulfilled this !! ☺️☺️
