Updating book cover

I have a new book cover file and would like my Goodreads book pages updated. The cover has already been updated on Amazon.

We do not change covers. You can add alternate cover editions for the new ones.

Okay, when I tried to delete the cover to add a new one a red error message pops up that says: "Only librarians have permission to delete the cover for this book" so I figured it was possible.

If I create an alternate cover edition will the edition with the old cover stay on the site too? If so, can I delete it?

You do NOT delete an old cover. As Martin said you create an alternate cover edition. You can then make that the default if you like. But readers can read and review any edition they have.

The confusing thing is the cover I have on amazon now is my original cover--the cover I would like to use for all editions. As a matter of fact, up to two days ago it existed as my hardcover edition cover, but now that is gone in favor of this white cover. I am unsure where the white cover came from.
