Notifications system change

Is there any chance at all that some of the recent notification changes could be rolled back, even if it's just for posts in the LG? The lack of email notifications is seriously negatively impacting my ability to keep track of requests which I'm handling that require Q&A with the original posters. The little "notifications" button at the top right is not useful for this purpose as (a) new notifications are not starred once you go to the full list and (b) LG notifications get buried in amongst all the other stuff. Alternatively, perhaps the Notifications page could be modified to allow filtering by date and/or by group, that would be of *some* help.

Any news on this? And does anyone have tips for how to keep track of requests, despite these barriers/difficulties?

I usually make the request, and then I edit it, turning the notifications On.
It's a boring solution but it works
