Attn Jaclyn: re Adding New Books - one request per topic only>

I recommended the thread be closed but some kind soul added all of those books. That is going above and beyond what should ever be expected.

Thanks for updating the guidelines.
A couple of remarks/suggestions:
* On top after Important: I think it would be handy if requester states both title ánd language code. This would facilitate the use of language threads as discussed elsewhere.
* Please add * Don't forget to checkmark the tiny box Notify me when people comment so you know when a librarian needs additional info and/or your request has been completed, as a reminder since the unfortunate change in the notifications system
* Please skip the extra paragraph (new line) between '* Language' and '* Link to book page'. Hopefully this will prevent that requesters oversee this requirement, which at the moment often happens.
* Please add to the '* Link to bookpage' that publishers who also sell their own published books are an acceptable source. This seems to be misunderstood sometimes.
And in Comment #2, Please DO
I think the section '* Add (done) or (completed)..." can be removed. Instead it could be mentioned that, once completed, the librarian will mark the topic [Done] whereupon it will automatically be moved to the [Closed]-folder.
I don't know if other librarians also have additional remarks/suggestions...

Most people don't add it though.

I was curious when this started so I just checked. It has been 28 days since I was notified about a comment. Others have continued to comment on that particular thread, and I never heard a peep from the notifications.
Is this due to the yearly update? I do not recall this occurring last year, but I wasn't as active on the boards then.

I get notifications for all threads where I checked the 'Notify me' box. Not by email (I never got those, because at the time I did not opt for it), but both on desktop (a red dot next to the bell icon) and on smartphone.

I still see Kindle books being added using the generic term ebook and also Audibles added as audiobooks. Sometimes the bot changes the format but I'm seeing librarian errors, too. And with the bot adding ASINs to all the ebooks it will be confusing if a librarian needs to edit the book later.

Tawnya,
You are among those whose profile shows last active October 2024.
Log out on all devices at same time then log in again. This usually corrects the date and you should soon start getting notifications.
Anyone not receiving notifications check your profile to see if you are among those with profile showing last active October, November, or December 2024.
The lack of notifications doesn't seem to happen immediately but weeks/months later so even those still getting notifications may want to fix this.

You're welcome.
This is a continuing problem. I finally corrected my October problem in December but 2nd week of January I still showed last active December so fixed it again.
Thanks for the feedback! Emmy, I've implemented your suggestions, with the exception of:
* On top after Important: I think it would be handy if requester states both title ánd language code. This would facilitate the use of language threads as discussed elsewhere. - omitted as language is requested further down, and I don't want this post to become too wordy as then members might not read it in entirety.
* I think the section '* Add (done) or (completed)..." can be removed. Instead it could be mentioned that, once completed, the librarian will mark the topic [Done] whereupon it will automatically be moved to the [Closed]-folder. - I left this as Librarians still find this useful (thanks for weighing in Javier!)

This sounds like a request for Librarians, whereas the announcement under discussion in this thread is for members looking to have their books added. 😊

This morning I saw a brief request (almost without details) to add 80(!) magazines...

Yikes, not ok!
Alright, closing this thread as complete, but please feel welcome to open a new one if anything comes up.

This topic has been frozen by the moderator. No new comments can be posted.
At the moment the guidelines How to request a book to be added to Goodreads merely strongly recommend creating a new thread for every new request.
Could this be made mandatory, please?
There are members who continue to create topics with more than one (sometimes upto 5) requests and completely ignore our instructions to separate into one request per topic.
See for instance this topic, posts #495, 496, 498 and 499.
This makes it harder for us librarians to inventorize the outstanding workload, because when one thinks to have 3 open requests it actually concerns 15 open requests... And we are already overloaded and can barely cope.
An obligatory no more than 1 request per topic would give us the possibility to simply close a request for non-compliance of the rules.
