Introductions!

I'm an incurable bookworm who loves libraries. I used to read only fantasy, historical and contemporary romance and YA. Now I've started to read more classics and non-fiction. My literary goal for the coming months is to read a fiction, non-fiction, a classic and a children's book/reread every month.
I'm really glad I found this group. I have a doubt which I can ask only in this group. I'm trying to keep up with my reading when my college schedule gets unmanageable. How do you guys manage to read books during college? Any tips?

I've been an avid reader since I was about 5 years old, and now that I no longer have to read a hundred pages a night for school, I'm excited to be able to really start knocking books off my oversized to-read list!

I've been lurking for some time now, and I thought if I started getting active it would give me more motivation to free read still once the school year starts back up.
My name is Caitlyn. I'll be 19 in a few days and am transferring to University of Iowa from Belmont University in Nashville, TN.
I'm extremely interested in music and obviously I'm quite the reader.
I'm not sure what else to add to this little shindig, but hopefully I'll get to know some of you! :)

I didn't go to college but I will eventually. Right now I'm just wakeboarding and enjoying life.

Hi, my name is Lina, 22 from Nairobi, Kenya. Am new to this group and to the site as well.
Hi all! I'm J.L., and I love books--reading them, and writing them! I'm a huge fan of the New Adult category (that's mainly what I write), though I'll read almost anything based on a good recommendation. I'm excited to see what this group has to offer, and to get to know everyone a little better. :)

I am also going through denial that I won't be returning to school in the fall.
Nice to meet the lot of you!

Eve- I think we should be best friends.
J.L.- I'd love to read some of your writing sometime, if you're interested in sharing.
Welcome everyone!

I don't read too much contemporary or YA fiction, but other than that, I don't really know how to characterize my reading preferences. But my profile's public, so you're welcome to check out the books I like if you're curious. I'm looking forward to many good book discussions here! :)

I joined Goodreads only recently, mostly to keep track of what I read. I don't really have a specific genre that I follow; I read whatever feels good to read. I don't usually get to discuss books, so I suppose this is my chance to do so with like-minded people, and also to see what others are reading.
So: Howdy again to everyone, and hope to have lots of fun!

About me...em....I'm Louise, I'm 25, from a teeny-tiny village in the West of Ireland. Love reading and travelling. Just got back from a six-month solo trip around Europe. It was awesome! My all-time favourite books are Juno & Juliet by Julian Gough and The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman.

I love reading and the genres that I mainly read -or, better said, that I almost always read- are thrillers, sci-fi and fantasy.

My passion for reading was given to me by my dad and has been with me since I was a little girl. Ever since I went to med school though I abandoned my books for medical books. Now I'm trying to recover the lost time during my days in the USA. I want to read specially American literature books because for my whole life I've been mostly reading European/Brazilian literature!
Looking for new friends as well!!

I really do love to read. It's the best (and sometimes worst) feeling when you get so lost in a bookend become so involved with the characters. I've been reading since I was a kid. Though the last few years I haven't read as much, I'm hoping to get back on the reading train and make a few friends a long the way!
I really love suspense, mystery, romance, comedy ( If you haven't read Bossypants by Tina Fey, please read it ASAP!!!), YA, and a assortment of other genres.

I'm Eveline. I love to write, that's probably one of the biggest reasons why I'm studying to be a journalist. I'm also working on my first novella, which will be published in 2014. I love to read as well (of course), mostly fantasy and historical fiction.

I used to be active on GR a couple of years ago but then fell off. I spend most of my time either reading or at work (or reading at work, to be honest), so I figured it was time to start engaging with the world again.

I actually only recently re-discovered my GR account and I've decided to try and become more active. I'm trying to start up my new book blog as well, so hopefully I'll be able to stay committed to being active around these parts, heh.

I like to read al sorts of books. When I'm not reading I either spent my free time watching tv shows or drawing.

Anyway, like all of you, I'm a bookaholic too. Like reading all sorts of books, if interesting. But my favorite genres are YA, contemporary, mystery, romance. Not much into non-fictions, but I like reading memoirs.
Um, that's enough for an introduction, I guess. Hope to have lots of discussion about books and college stuffs here, not to mention that hope to have fun as well!

Hey Sarah:) Definitely try The Gunslinger by Stephen King. I recommend that to just about anyone and recommend it any time I get the chance. It's pretty short as well so I imagine it wouldn't take up too much of your time while you're finishing up school. Congratulations on that btw :)

I am also in a long distance relationship, so my time is limited. I'm hoping to read more again, and it always helps to be a part of active and fun groups!

My name is Suzan, I'm 22 years old and I'm from the Netherlands. I am a student of English Language and Culture, hopefully graduating this year (currently writing my dissertation which is killing me). Also hoping to be doing a Master's degree in English next. Needless to say, I love reading, and recently I've really been into classics, but honestly, I'd read anything (except for most YA fantasy - I've recently discovered that I've outgrown that genre).

Hey Suzan, im currently writing my dissertation too! so i feel your pain!
p.s welcome to the group!

My name is Shantell. I am a 25-year-old senior at TESC (a credit-bank online college) finishing my BA in English Lit. I have moved six times since my late teens, so finishing school has been a struggle—I'm almost there! After graduation, I plan on obtaining my teaching certificate through the alternate route to be able to teach high school English.
When I settle into a new place, one of the first groups I join is a new book club. These groups often meet at inconvenient times, however, and everyone is old enough to be my mother (or grandmother!). They've been great, but I'd like to discuss fun books with people closer to my age.
Thanks for reading. I know there's a lot of people here, but please respond if your story is similar to mine! Maybe we can form a sub-group to make it less intimidating?
Shantell

My name is Ashley, I'm 19 and about to enter my sophomore year of college. I'm majoring in Psychology, and eventually specializing in Therapy for Special Needs Children. I live in Maryland. I read all sorts of books, from teen fiction to mystery to psychology! I actually just finished a fantastic book called SYLO by DJ Machale, and recommend you all read it!

I just discovered the communities on this site thanks to my fourteen year old sister who is an avid reader and participant. I'm Hayley, I'm going on 22 in August and just graduated with a film degree from UC Santa Barbara. Over the past four years I've found very little time to read anything for fun since I've been weighted down with hundreds of pages of film theory, history, and analysis a week, and although I'm a nerd and totally loved it I miss my junior high days of reading a book a day (yes my friends and I spent lunch in the library). I'm home for the summer before moving off to LA to pursue a career in filmmaking and have picked back up my old reading habits in hope that my brain wont turn to mush now that I'm old and graduated. My all time favorite author is Sarah Dessen (clearly not a lot has changed since I was 13). I also love to read in the hopes of finding the next great film or TV series (everything is adaptations these days anyways!)
